  1. I've spent my life living around miserable, despicable human beings. I hated families, and communities because I assumed they all were like the ones I've experienced. Then, slowly, through the internet, I discovered new communities that were full of support and love. Complete strangers, coming from virtually infinitely different backgrounds and cultures; people from all over the world, with only a few common interests, seem to come together. Thanks to these communities, I have become a new person. I can honestly say that I'm a happier person because of them. The Kametsu community was and still is a big help for my transition. I regret never meeting Taylor in person; for someone I've never met, she has had more of a positive impact on my life through this community than the people in my day-to-day life. I value my friends greatly and I would be honored to have called her one. Koby, you are a good brother. Words are cheap but for what its worth I'm truly sorry you and your family had to go through that. Happy Birthday Taylor.
  2. I'll have to agree with a lot of people with this one. The only anime I've ever teared up on was Clanned AS. I am in no way an emotional person but I teared up several times, especially in AS. Its a one of a kind slice of life anime.
  3. I'm glad that you agree with me. The internet IS changing and we need to change with it. We will not submit to defeat. We have the power to make the internet our domain. We need to band together to achieve this however. The limitless power of the internet can and will shape the future of humankind and how we live. It is up to us how we utilize it. The internet must never be monopolized or we'll loose the last true freedom.... To serious, maybe I'm just crazy. On a lighter note, I too, have very few "real world" anime friends. So what its worth I'd be honored to call you my friend even if we are thousands of miles apart. Noblesse oblige.

  4. I've seen Akira, its old and violent along those lines, so yes those types of anime have existed for a long time. These types of anime are not my cup of tea either. I like when anime get dark but when it goes overboard or gets unnecessarily cruel I tune out.
  5. I'm emotionally dead for the most part but a few episodes of clanned after story nearly brought me to tears, which says a lot.
  6. 100% worth it. It makes a huge difference. It is the same reason people would rather see a movie in the theaters or with their home entertainment center..... it adds to the effect.
  7. It may sound strange but out of all the anime characters I would choose to be Ginko from Mushishi. I know there are powerful and mysterious characters to portray from other anime but to be honest, I would love to live Ginko's life. He travels the world teaching people about mushi and how to treat them rather than ignorantly shunning them or condemning those who are afflicted by them. Ginko got to see many wondrous things while not living an overly excited life. On top of things he travels alone gathering his thoughts and ideas. I would love to walk life in his shoes.
  8. This is always a problem with me. I find that the shorter anime are usually really good. That in turn causes the problem of finishing the show quickly though. I like when stories are wrapped up and finished. I hate when something good is milked and milked until you end up with a tattered, overdone, cluster-F#$k of a show that it used to be.(Cough, Bleach, Cough, Cough). If the show is too short however, you can feel like more story could be told without being redundant. FLCL is one of my favorite anime, but with only 6 episodes I always wish more was done. To conclude, I'm usually bummed when I finish a good show, but that is when I use my remedy for the sadness....... The next anime.
  9. 243 Completed series, movies, ova's. Just skimming the best that stuck out from the rest- black lagoon code geass death note elfen lied flcl FMA samurai champloo just to name a few of my favorites.
  10. Ai Enma from Hell Girl. When your being ferried to hell, she can be the last bit of hope and beauty you will ever see before you spend eternity without either.
  11. Utawarerumono is defiantly under-rated. It was just by chance I even saw the show but I'm glad I did. The ending could have been better but over all it was a great show. I've only heard a few mentions of it since I've seen it.
  12. Samurai Girls- Unique animation but so far not impressing me.
  13. 6,695. Just made this post 20% cooler.
  14. I just want to send my condolences. I've followed the news of her ever since she was diagnosed. I think that it is amazing how someone who I have never met can have such an affect on my feelings. Her memory and her legacy shall be continued on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the fans of this site. I'm so happy to see how many supporting responses have been posted. I hope they can offer some comfort, even if it only a little.
  15. FLCL-Funny short show. 6 episodes, Paranoia Agent-weird and creepy but interesting. 13 episodes. Hell Girl-Literally a girl who sends people to hell. Season 1 26 episodes. Eureka 7- In many ways like Gurren Lagann. Closer to a love story. 50 episodes. Most of the ones you have seen that you liked I too have seen. I agree on most of your taste in anime. I figure you'll like these as well. My laptop has a 500gig hard drive and I also have an external hard drive with another 500gig's. Both are full of anime. So I have seen just about everything. If you want a more in-depth suggestion let me know.
  16. I'm currently watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I know It is older, but I'm just now getting around to watching it. I'm about half way through the first season. Next I'll watch Planets.
  17. 6679 bottles of bear on the wall
  18. Ai Enma from Hell Girl. If I end up going to hell when I die, It would be nice if someone like her took me there.
  19. Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon are the first two I can think of that I ever watched. However, now that I think about it, I didn't even know what anime was back then. I just thought they were cool cartoons.
  20. Lil' Slugger from Paranoia Agent. He is human paranoia incarnate.
  21. Soul Eater ep. 38 I'm considering what to watch win I finish Soul Eater.
  22. Mine are as follows: 1. Elfen Leid 2. Death Note 3. Code Geass 4. Eureka 7 5. FLCL
