I think blaming parents for 99.9% isn't really fair because parents in the modern world don't spend enough time with there children to be 99.9% responsible for their failed upbringing. You have to think about the time a child spends at school, with friends, or even other family members. Parents are definitely the biggest factor in this but poor quality teachers and friends that encourage negative actions can have just as much of a negative impact on the behavior of children. Like Honey_Prince mentioned with his friend, if a friend or loved one continuously fills a child's head with negative ideas it wouldn't matter what they hear from their parents, after awhile they will act on those negative ideas to please the friend/loved one. While parents should be able to filter their children from such negative people, at times it can become difficult because the person in question is either not know about or could be a family member. My older sister has three children and the two boys are complete terrors who curse and hit their mother whenever they don't get what they want. She works 10/12 hour days 4 days a week and travels an hour one way to get there. She hardly ever gets to see her children and her husband is MIA with this GF. She requires alot of help raising her children which she gets from our mom, myself, and her mother in law. The problem is that her mother in law has decided that it is ok for them to curse around her and that fighting is fine as well because boys will be boys. She also tells them not to listen to me or my mother and bribes them to prefer her, so that anytime we tell them they can't have or do something they cry and scream for grandma Carol. It is becoming nearly impossible to get these kids to do anything, and their educations are even beginning to suffer because of their refusal to focus on their school work. It isn't possible to keep the kids away from her because if my sister does tell her no, she just calls her son who picks up the kids to spend time with them but an hour later they are at grandma's house again. So is it really my sister's fault that her kids have no real future to look forward to. I don't believe it is just a single parent issue either. Me and both my sisters were raised in a single family home and both me and my older sister turned out fine but my younger sister was a terror herself. My mom didn't raise her any differently then she raised us. The only real difference was my younger sister was forced to go to public school while me and my older sister stayed in a private catholic school until high school. We had friends that offered positive motivation while my younger sister ended up with a very negative crowd. I think parents are responsible for most of the upbringing of children but only up to the amount of time they are able to spend with them. Parents can't spend every waking moment with their kids, it just isn't possible. So they have to rely on the other people in the lives of their children. Most interactions with negative people should be controllable by the parents as well, but it's impossible to control it all unless you keep them locked up. I just can't see blaming parents for any more the 80% of what goes wrong with children. Family, friends, and the education system have to take responsibility for the rest. Unfortunately though that 20% is sometimes enough to corrupt the life of a child.

I think he means this http://folding.stanford.edu/ don't have it installed myself though but it seems interesting. If thats not it then I have no idea what he is talking about either.

I think this is more a product of improved technology then anything else. There have always been really stupid people in this world. The only difference today is that with things like youtube, the less intellectually challenged can relish in the pathetic demise of the truly retarded. Case in point, a man decides to get out of his car at the safari park to pet the pretty lion (rawr kitty food). 100 years ago it would be nothing more then a local legend, but today it's on tv and the internet due to the smarter people who stayed in their car and recorded the whole thing. I'm sure the overall amount of stupid people is the world is higher then it's ever been, but only because there is more people now then there has ever been. I don't think people are actually getting dumber though, it's just alot easier to here about the colossally fail people in today's world then it has ever been in the past.

I think it's three main problems coming together that cause this. Religion has almost no place in the lives of kids today. In the USA almost every religious person I know is really nothing more then a weekend worshiper. They're dicks Monday thru Friday but come the weekend and suddenly they're saints. The two biggest problems though are the lack of child parent interaction and the unbelievable amount of spoiling that goes on with children today. Even a child who's parents subject them to negative things can turn out ok if the parent is there enough to still teach them the negative sides of such things. Problem is that to many people don't have the time for their children because they are to busy trying to keep food on the table, so the kids basically raise themselves with the help of their friends. Children also have way to much now, cellphones by six; tv, computer, and game consoles by seven. Then there is the endless amount of toys they play with for ten minutes then never pick up again. I think it's overloading our children's ability to put any real value on the toys they own. If anything breaks they just move to the next toy until the broken one is replaced. If our children don't even respect their toys how can we ever expect them to respect anything else.

@HybridZombie the site seems to be don't right now for maintenance but I would keep checking http://www.demonoid.me hopefully when it comes back up registrations will still be open. They were open at the time of my last post. If they are still open after the maintenance, all you have to do is make a new account, but it's hard to catch open registration. That's why I've been posting it in this thread whenever I notice it being open.

If you can't get a cat or dog, you could try a fish. Not really as awesome as a dog or cat and you can't snuggle with it, but some seem pretty smart. I've had a green spotted puffer for over 4 years now and it's still going strong. It even seems to recognize me when I'm in front of its tank. It could never replace my cat or my dog but its fat little face is just adorable and it's really simple to take care of once you get the proper info. Being a carnivorous fish you also get the added bonus of being able to feed it a crab every now and then and watching the fireworks. Fish aren't really all that exciting but if you can't have a cat or dog, they can be a cheap and easy alternative.

I would have to go with either 2001: A Space Odyssey or Clash of the Titans(1981). Both are epic films I enjoy more and more every time I watch them. Other top picks would be Tron, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea(Disney), Jaws, Blade Runner, Star Wars, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Matrix, Jurassic Park.

Well registration is open yet again so to anyone who didn't get one the last time I you head over to Demonoid and sign up now. Last time it was only open for the weekend so if you don't get one by Sunday night you could be out of luck.

How much did you guys pay for ESET? I tried the trial once and liked it well enough. I'm thinking about trying a paid virus scanner/firewall again when I redo my annual reinstall. I go between avast and avira now and while both work well I haven't really found a free firewall I like yet. The Microsoft Security Essentials keeps pissing me off though, one of the other programs I use doesn't seem to place nice with it. So after about a month of using it or so I start getting 90% cpu usage because one of MSE's processes is going crazy. I can find a bunch of other people having the same problem but the only real fix I've found that works so far is uninstalling it. Have any of the other people using MSE had this problem.

Said on the news just the other day that Bush had to cancel a trip to Europe because there are groups that want to bring him up on charges over the water-boarding thing. Not really sure they would have a case but it still made me laugh.

I have to agree with shade on raising the amount of post. All it will really do is mean more pointless spam post that will need to be deleted. If someone is really out to get access to the downloads section they will spam until they get access or get are banned trying. I tried to get a friend of mine to join and he thought 5 was to much, especially when he was already a member of several other sites. I like Shazi's idea as well though, if people aren't being active then there really is no reason why they need to have access to the downloads section. I think just offering a more friendlier place for people to hang out could help as well. Admins/Mods make or brake a site like this, if people see other people get slammed for asking simple questions they will be less likely to want to post themselves. I know it gets old having to answer the same questions over and over again but stickys and a good site faq/wiki could fix alot of the stupid questions. At the end of the day though you are still going to have to deal with people who ask the same old questions because they just don't see the search option or don't know any better. Lashing out at them will only drive them and maybe others away. Another option would be to let non forum members see/join the CB chat discussions. Don't really know if they can do this already, but I know that when I'm not logged in that I can't see it at all. Other sites I visit let you see the chat box and login as guest to chat with some of the members to see if you get alone with anyone. The CB could be a great way for people new to the site to see what it is about and what kind of people are a part of it.

The only way I see the USA getting involved in another war in the near future would be if things in Egypt go badly and they brake their peace treaty with Israel. The Anglo nations will only put troops on the ground if the other regional baddies Palestine, Syria, Iran decide to involve themselves in it as well. Even if Israel, in all honesty, has it coming to them we still won't let them get squashed out. Obama isn't a war President but regardless of how much he may want to talk it out, if Israel ends up in a four way fight there will be Anglo and UN involvement.

Well if all you are wanting is to add soft subs to your encodes. Just go to the subtitle tab and add the number of subtitle tracks you want to keep. To select them use the pull down button under the text Track: to select the different subtitle tracks. That's all I really do for subtitles in handbrake. It will use the default settings for the rest of it, which has always worked fine for me. Only thing you may need to look out for is that sometimes when you add tracks the Burned In box gets checked by default which you will want to uncheck so handbrake won't burn in that track. I'm not really sure how many tracks you can add but I always add all of the ones on the dvd minus the closed captions track, because they always got burned in when I used the last version. Even if the Burned In box is unchecked. I haven't bothered trying with the new version yet though.

If you mean like windows recovery type thing, no you can't, because ubuntu will format and install itself on the partition/hd you select. You can do a duel boot though, by installing ubuntu on a different partition then windows is installed on. I think the only way to share files between linux and windows is threw samba, but I don't really mess with this so I could be wrong. If you are really wanting to try linux out, I would just try a live cd/dvd. It boots and runs off a cd/dvd so you never have to worry about messing with your windows installation. If you like what you see, then you can worry about trying to learn a new OS you will never have to pay for.

These are the same bastards that picket at the funerals of soldiers. They're just a bunch of inbred haters that like seeing themselves on tv. I don't really have anything against gay people, and fail to really see how it is such a religious sin. I do think it is a sin against evolution, because while it doesn't really get in the way of anyone worshiping God. It does make it pretty damn hard to reproduce, and down right impossible without technology. I think the biggest problem with gay marriage as being legal or not, is whether or not it is a religious sacrament or a legal binding. The Constitution says that religion and state are to be kept separate. So if a priest or pastor believes that gay marriage is a sin, then the government has no right to force that priest/pastor to marry a gay couple. If marriage is a legal binging then gay couples should just be able to get married in a court house. If marriage is a religious sacrament though, it would mean that anyone married by someone other then a religious figure would not be a true marriage. It also means that the gay community could decide to start their own church that sees no problem with gay marriage. Then the government should have to honor that right. The only problem with this is that I think most states have laws against polygamy which is an example of governments suppressing the religious rights of a people. Either way this goes I think the government needs to define what marriage is before they can really begin to make laws about it.

Koby you are right about Republicans they don't want change, they want to rich to continue getting richer while the poor continue getting poorer. It's why I'm not a republican can pretty hate what they stand for. They are still citizens of the US though, and so are the people who elect them. Even though they are colossal douches they still have a right to have their voices heard and their ideals taken into consideration. The democrats had all the votes they needed to pass health care without earmarks being added. Republicans only used the one power they had left to make the democrats get all of those votes. The problem was that democrats wouldn't sign until they got their earmarks. The reason Obama blamed it on republicans was because it was an election year and he was a democrat. It was because of democrats insisting on so many earmarks during those first two years that democrats lost control of the House during midterm election. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to vote. I was just answering the original questions this thread was based on, and then added my views of Health Care since it was brought up. As for what Obama said I believe the acutally quote was something like "Election have consequences, and I won." When I translate that from politese to english it comes up to something like "Go screw yourselves, neener neener neener." I'm sure that if I would have heard that three days into his first term, when he said it, that I probably would have laughed my ass off. After two years of what has had to be the worst political stagnation in the recent history of American Politics, it isn't so funny.

Socialism - any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods Communism - a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party. I fail to see this on any count, because the government isn't setting the pay, the company sets their own pay. The law would only state that the company has to have a fair ratio of pay between the lowest and highest paid person on the payroll of that company. If you have someone who has more than one business then they can't make more than 20x the lowest paid person per each business they own. Each business is treated as a separate venture as long as it isn't linked to one of the other businesses the person owns. I don't believe Michael Jordan is on Hanes' pay roll so his endorsement wouldn't be a part of their ratio or any ratio of any business he may own. If anything it would make up the profit of Michael Jordan Inc. in which he sells himself and his name as a billboard for someone else's products. I would hope that there aren’t any heart surgeons out there with a 50% success rate and if there are I would hope that any surgeons with a 90% success rate wouldn’t be stupid enough to start a practice with someone so full of fail. I think you failed to understand what I was trying to say or just don’t understand the state of the American economy. If you go back to my Wal-Mart example, the CEO of Wal-Mart makes the yearly income of a new employee during his lunch break. The Walton family brings in tens of billions of dollars a year. Say one Walton only makes $1 Billion a year, divide that by the $15,000 income in my original example and you get something like 66666.66. What skill do the Waltons really have that warrant them to receive 6,666 times their lowest paid employee? If you want to go back to Jordan, I fail to see why he should really make more the 20x any of his other teammates. He may be one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but if you would have taken away his team, he would have lost everytime. If you don’t like 20x fine make it 40x or 50x, but 66,666x is total BS. As for the whole Mexican thing, I believe I said the jobs that Americans don’t want to do. Right now there are two kinds of illegal aliens working in the USA. The kind that take jobs away from US citizens (like Koby’s friend) by working for less wages, and the ones that slave away in fields picking fruit and vegetables for crap wages because the farmers can’t afford to pay them more and can’t find anyone other than illegals to do the work. If the farmers would raise the rates of their food enough to cover the cost of paying higher wages to attract US citizens to do the work. Then people in this country and around the world would most likely starve, riot, or both because they couldn’t afford the higher prices. It really sucks that it has to be that way but this is life and life isn’t fair, all you can really do is make it as fair as you possibly can. By having a joint program between the United States and Mexico that would put some kind of agency in charge of picking, transporting, and keeping tabs on temporary immigrants, and then heavily fining those who hire illegals would be the only way to stiffen the flow of illegal immigrants into the USA. Unless you want to build a massive fence along the entire border of US and Mexico, and then find the money to hire enough people to patrol it, you will never stop this without hurting US agriculture. Would also like to note that the post above is a prime example of what is wrong with American politics. You get one representative who proposes an idea that offers real solutions to real problems even if it is still unfinished. Then you get another representative that decides because they don’t like the idea, the person who proposed the idea, or they are just jealous they didn’t come up with it first, slaps it with a socialist or communist sticker and then says back to business as usually.

Never said the Republicans were innocent of inserting earmarks, but to my knowledge in the last two years they haven't had a chance to do much of anything. The Republicans voted to repeal health care when they took the house because that is what they promised the people that voted for them. I don't remember Obama saying in any of his campaign speeches that he promised to tell the opposition party to shove it once he was elected. I do remember him telling everyone that he was going to be a president that would cross the isle, which 3 days into his first term turned out to be a lie. I also don't see how what the Republicans were formulating had anything to do with it since he flat out shut them down his third day in office. They had no power in either the house or the senate but yet he still felt the need to tell them they weren't going to have a voice either. Does this happen in politics, yes it does, but it doesn't make it ok for him to throw it in their faces. I can't think of any time within my life time that another president decided to alienate himself form the opposition so heavily during his first week of office.

The only thing I can think of is check the input tab in Sound Preferences to make sure it isn't muted and that the right connector is selected. If it isn't the mic and the drivers are installed then it has to be either a bad install of drivers or a setting in Sound Preferences that isn't right.

The Health Care was a good try but all the addons that had to be added to it in order for it to get past will bankrupt this nation. The idea that it is so complete that no one will slip threw the cracks is outright stupidity, and forcing all those who can't afford insurance to pay a fine should be illegal (if it isn't already). A health care system similar to what Canada has would be awesome, but health care in this nation has become to intertwined in big business for it to really ever get off the ground and remain a success. As for minimum wage, it is one of the biggest problems this country has. The whole thing just needs to be tossed out, because there is only one thing that happens when minimum wage is raised the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. This is because every raise is followed by inflation and CEOs use this opportunity to up their percentage of profits at the expense of the blue collar workers the pay raise is suppose to help in the first place. What they need to do is institute a Maximum Wage Bill. Tell them, they can pay their workers what ever want but the highest paid person tied to the company can't make more then 20x the lowest paid person. So say Wal-Mart only wants to pay it's cashiers $15,000 a year then the highest paid person linked to Wal-Mart can't earn more then $300,000. That would be a huge pay cut to those at top, who wouldn't be use to living like that. They will want to find a way to increase everyone's pay globally so they can continue to enjoy their preferred style of life. Now this at first would mean a loss of jobs but as those who stay behind begin to enjoy their new found wealth more jobs will be created to cater to their needs. Since all new businesses will have to follow the maximum wage law everyone with a job should get fare pay. The only problem that would really remain is the lack of jobs, which could be fixed by putting heavy taxes on businesses that take jobs over seas and give big tax cuts to those who bring jobs back. Then set up some kind of program with Mexico that allows a set amount of Mexicans to temporally come to USA to do the job Americans refuse to do. Then pass a law that states if any business is caught employing undocumented aliens that a large percentage of their profits for a set amount of time would be forfeited to the government.

Did I vote for Obama in '08 yes. Will I vote for him in '12 absolutely not! Alot of the fighting that has been going on in the government since he took office he had a hand in. I watched the coverage of the midterm election and one of the comments I heard by one of the reporters for CBS was that on Obama's second day in office he basically told the Republican Party to fck off. He and his party decided that since they had control of the House, Senate, and the White House that the opinions of the Republicans no longer mattered. The Republicans said no to everything out of protest, because everything they said or offered was ignored. The only reason the Health Care Bill is a pile of crap is because the Democrats where to busy trying to get things added to it that solely benefited their own states in order to aid their own reelections. They actually refused to sign a bill they had every intention of signing until they got the addons they wanted. I really wanted Obama to be the really deal but in reality he is just another crappy Chicago politician, in a long line of crappy Chicago politicians. He wanted to be the first black president and now that he has that we need to move on to a real politician that can work with all members of congress to fix the problems with this nation. I just don't see how Obama could work for another term because he has lost all the respect he had with the Republican Party. They don't want to work with him now and as long as they are forced to things will never get done. I'm not a Republican, and I pretty much disagree with them on almost every account. I do believe they are an important part of this countries government though, and think any time their voices are silenced that a great injustice has fallen this nation.

I think I see just as much blue, pink, white, esc. colors of hair in anime as I see blond. I think the japanese like exploring different colors of hair because they themselves are predominantly a dark haired people.
