I'm liking this show alot and I'm happy it's getting another season but is it just me or is Shadow kind of a bad actor? I know (so far) he's supposed to be really confused and in disbelief but he just stays so stoic and confused to me.

I don't and never have used Plex. Should I? It never appealed to me for some reason. I think it was mainly because of its limitations in the decoding department. Doesn't it decode on the server level and not on the device the movie actually plays on?
Plex is pretty much just the best "set it and forget it" option as far as media servers go. It's very easy and basic.
It depends on the company's developers rather than a community of open source contributors, which I find hinders more curious, experimental users.
What I do like about it is aesthetics, especially on the mobile app. That and the fact that the app is available on damn near anything that can install apps. -

Fun fact, Plex was originally a modification of Kodi (then XBMC). The official Plex home theatre app was just a reskinned Kodi until recently.
I actually read that recently. I wasn't even aware of media servers and things of that nature until a handful of years ago so I missed the "good ol' days" -

Thinking about it, I'll probably try both, LibreELEC and the Kodi DSPlayer. I already have Win 10 installed on the second drive of the barebone PC. If I manage I'll post some results. Not here in this thread, though.

Lol, hijacking is ok by me!
I'm jealous of all this custom Kodi build talk! I know practically nothing about it. I've never done any diving into software-related stuff. I've always found the fun in building and tweaking hardware, networking, etc.
If it weren't for my family being so used to Plex, I'd love to introduce Kodi and some crazy add-ons-

HTPC (9.5tb internal storage) with Kodi + windows remote, connected to a 40" 1080p HDTV through HDMI for video & sound. I need to build a NAS and get a sound system tho.
That sounds great! Did you build or buy a premade? I am still debating whether I care enough to build one in a small case made for htpc's or if I want to just make it a regular tower for more drive space. I do want to build an NAS as well since my kids are getting older and thus using more technology so I will need more room for more data to serve up throughout the house and I'd like to have some redundancy. -

That would be great too but Animaniacs would probably come with more Pinky & The Brain *hopefully*-

That's the problem, then. The PS3 won't recognize USB devices as usable unless it is a controller or storage device. Everything else it will just provide power to, if needed. You would need a digital auxilary capable device to hook up that DJ board to it.
As for the topic, personally, when I stream my own person files, I just use PS3 Media Server, though it is getting old and outdated for the most part. When I stream, I normally just use HULU, Funimation, etc. for anime through their apps. I also have a laptop with an HDMI output to watch stuff from the computer on my big TV. Eventually, I need to get a soundbar, though, even if just a cheap one, since a lot of HD content has the voiced dialogue drowned out by sound effects and music. It doesn't seem like it would be easy to adjust the equalizer on my TV either to make the center audio streams louder without effecting music and sound effect volume, so the sound bar would be my best bet in making it easier to hear spoken lines without having to turn the volume down for loud music and sound effects. I never had this problem with non-HD audio, though.
I agree about the audio. It got to be so damn frustrating when I had to grab the remote during dialogue and then hurry and turn it down after my ears were already bleeding from an action scene. I scored some surround speakers, piece by piece at Goodwill and won an auction for a really good Yamaha receiver. I have a powered woofer too so firefights with grenades have a nice BOOM! lol. -
I'm rereading Evangelion. I missed it so.

I hook the speakers into the DJ board via XLR cables and the DJ board connects via USB, for whatever reason the ps3 won't recognize the DJ board
Ah man my knowledge doesn't stretch far enough for that lol. You would probably need some type of receiver as well. Or maybe it could be fixed with a simple converter of some kind. -

Having good speakers for tv is sick af, my set up's expensive af and I only have it cuz they're my DJ/production speakers but if you can get a good audio setup it's totally worth it. I still haven't figured out how to get it to work on ps3 which is really annoying cuz that's how I watch my bluray discs and it's kinda shitty that I can't get a proper audio set up when I actually support the content financially
What kind of input/outputs does the sound system have? I have my ps3 and the Roku hooked up to the receiver via optical wire. -

I have my main computer connected via HDMI to two TV's: a 40" 4K HDTV and a 32" 720p HDTV.
Unfortunately I don't have any bad-ass surround system. I have 2 Logitech PC speakers with a separate woofer.
Would definitely like to get a proper audio setup though. Sometimes I just use headphones though.
I've questioned whether getting 5.1 supported headphones would be worth it or not.
I have a Logitech 5.1 headset and it's worth it for gaming but unless you're spending a few hundred (at the least), you're not going to get the lows that you want. -

I prefer to watch shit off my macbook with an hdmi conversion cable/hdmi cable plugged into my 55" LG and my DDJ-SX plugged into my macbook so I can hook up my Rockit 8s to the DDJ-SX and play the audio out of there

Personally, I hate watching things on my pc, even with a large screen. I like to feel as immersed as possible with lights off, surround sound, and a comfy couch or chair. I am very happy with Plex Media Server streaming to my living room but I plan on building an htpc in the near future. Hopefully building an nas box as well!
How do you like to serve your stuff up? -

I feel like Netflix has done such a good job on the vast majority of their self-produced stuff but idk how to feel about this one. I effing love the games but it just feels like a flop for some reason.

I know it doesn't change the fact that the discs are damaged, but you could still try to see if you can get them ripped to your computer.
Also, I used to live near a game store that had a disc re-surfacer in store. So you can always see about getting that done.
Yeah I'm going to try and see if any data can be salvaged from them tonight! I thought about doing that as well. The local used game store has a super huge, professional disc repair machine and they charge about $3/disc and even discount larger quantities. -
Came up on a SEXY original boxset of Stargate SG-1 at a yard sale yesterday, on my way to my buddies house for our D&D night....The pretty one with the Stargate protruding from the case. I am the type to get so excited I'd forget to make sure it has the discs inside so I actually put myself in check and calmed down and looked inside. I saw all of the discs. I was overjoyed!
Anyway, got home last night, opened the set and grabbed the first disc......MASSIVE gash right across, from one edge to the other, like someone purposely dug something into it.
I had to fight back tears and gather the courage to check each other disc....
Every single disc in the box was gashed the exact same way.
Now I know why they only wanted $5 for such a badass set. -
I've always preferred subbed with anime if it actually originates from Japan. Subtle or even major cultural differences can instill emotion and impact a scene or whole story. When it's translated and with a different actor it seems to lose the emotion that was intended. It's the same with anything that comes from a different culture really. The only exception where I've ever preferred dubbed is Bebop because, cmon, Steve Blum is the shit. That and Vash's voice from Trigun is better dubbed imo.

That's actually quite a hard decision but I'd have to say WB simply for Looney Tunes!
Dubbed or Subbed?-

Man that's hard. With love you're emotionally satisfied, whereas with lust you're sexually satisfied. Of course it's the ultimate when you have both.
I'm gonna have to go with love just because sex is a component of love.
Vanilla Coke or Cherry Coke?
Just a random note, I don't think sex is necessarily a component of love. At least not for everyone. In the animal kingdom, for example, sex is simply for the species' continuation. Also there are asexuals who don't have any desire for sex whatsoever but yet are in love with people.
Cherry coke all the damn way!
Regarding the senses: Sight or Sound? -
Hey guys! Would anyone be willing to update my tired sig? I'm still using one that a gent made for me back in the day on d2jsp forums.
All I really want is something with Wolfwood maybe brandishing Punisher. I am truly not picky as far as colors, size, etc, etc.
