It's funny you say that cuz they actually pushed them off. And nah they're not those types they're just friends with a lot of those types (like me lol)

Ah, sorry for assuming so then. Suppose I was doing a little venting of my own here.

My 2 friends I was gonna go to Japan with keep texting me about how loose these super drunk 20 year old Japanese girls are/how fond they are of American guys and I'm getting soooooooo fucking jealous if only I could've afforded to go with them:(ima have to go this summer

Your friends sound like pricks tbh. It takes a real piece of shit to take advantage of a drunk girl.

Then again, if they have to go to another country and find "super drunk" girls to even get any, I doubt they're telling the truth anyways. You don't go from perma-virgin (presuming they're nerdy/weeb types) to suddenly getting girls like that just by going to a different country/being a foreigner, lmao.

The moral of this story, children, is to not jump to conclusions about things without having all of the info.

"coordinated theatrical and global streaming release"

This suggests it'll still have a theatrical run too...

Oh. Shit. Would you look at that. Guess I just missed the "theatrical" part of the sentence.

Still, I doubt it'll be anywhere as large as a Funi theatrical run. Netflix has never done a theatrical run that large to my knowledge-- perhaps for The Little Prince? I don't remember exactly what happened with that though, just that Netflix picked it up abnormally close to the planned theatrical run.

  4. Nice. I was kind of hoping it would do well enough in Japan for Funimation to pick it up and do a limited theatrical run like they did for Shin Godzilla and Kimi no Na wa. Especially seeing as Gen Urobuchi is involved. Then again, at least it'll be available in 1080p right away rather than delayed for the Japanese BD to come out first like with... Shin Godzilla and Kimi no Na wa. Might be a blessing in disguise.

    A good start!
    But don't expect that much...

That's the "Original Quality - Download"... yeah...

But strangely enough, we can get a better audio via the "Convert to MP3 - Original Quality" option...

    snip

I'm not an audiophile, so i can't really tell a difference... It's clearly compressed, but it's decent.

That convert to MP3 option is just converting the low bitrate AAC you posted in the picture above to CBR MP3. That'll definitely be worse than the AAC, stick with the original quality for sure.

  6. Sennheiser HD 598 CS - $110 (reg. price $300) - apparently these are actually HD 569s, but it's a good deal regardless as those are still around $200, plus I don't really have any proper headphones rn)

Sony In-Ear Sound Isolating Headphones (MDRXB50APB) - $25 (reg. price $60) - I doubt these go for $60 regularly though, they're probably one of those things that's always "on sale" or whatever. I needed some anyways though, over/on ear headphones aren't always practical.

WD My Passport Ultra 3TB 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive - $120 (reg. price $200) - Needed some more space, getting sick of carrying my 2TB 3.5" HDD in it's rather large enclosure, so this should do rather nicely.

That's all I got, I'm really thinking of getting a PS4 Pro, mainly for exclusives, so I figured I would only get what I actually needed. I never got around to buying a PS4, so I might as well spend the extra $100 and get the Pro.

MX Player is the ideal player for an Android platform. However, the fonts are still limited on the OS so, it's likely whatever style the encoder/sub group is using, your device isn't able to properly display them.

Try using VLC for Android and see if it makes a difference. I'm not fond of it on Android (and it's a last resort for the PC these days for me) but, it could be a good start to troubleshoot the issue. If it doesn't work there, it's likely device limitations.

^This. MX Player is a lot better than VLC imo. Much cleaner interface, much snappier, and performed a bit better too. For example, I couldn't get VLC to play nicely with a 720p 10bit video I was trying to watch, but MX Player played it without a single hitch. Signs don't always work properly, so minor issues with that should be expected, but subs should look and work fine.

FUNi didn't, HS did. Whatever HS keeps doing to ALL their FUNi rips fucks up the fps. \o/ My own FUNi rips of the same episodes do not have the issue so it's confirmed to be an issue caused by HS.

As for Merchant vs. FUNi, depends on which is more important: video quality or soft-subs? Cause FUNi video is usually higher quality than Crunchyroll or HDTV but it's hardsubbed. While Merchant is softsubbed, it's very basic OCR without any edits applied and only some basic typesetting.

I checked the MediaInfo of both the HS release and an untouched FUNi rip of one of the episodes, and it seems that HS is being retarded and forcing all their releases to constant 23.976fps, regardless of if the stream is actually 23.976fps or not. I'll probably make my own release for archival purposes until the BD comes out. Pretty sure I've figured out a good alternative for video until then, not sure if it'll pan out though.

  9. So, for Danganronpa 3, Merchant is the way to go right? It's either them or HorribleSubs, and apparently FUNI fucked up the video so I'm leaning towards Merchant. I'm pretty sure Leopard is the best quality, but it's not really worth the effort to fix the subs and possibly spoil myself fixing them for a rather slight increase in quality.

  10. The Eric Andre Show - Surrealist comedy late night talk show. Kind of needs to be seen to be understood. Fourth season started a couple days ago.

I've been enjoying Orange is the New Black lately, too. It's a drama about a women's prison, and even though it at first sounds like phoned in girl power crap, it's a great show. (really though, how immature would you have to be to pass on a show just because the cast is mainly female?). It's on Netflix, up to season 4.

By decent I meant without compression artifacts, aka decent enough to be watched in my opinion. lol =) Sure it might be 'perfect range', but that's also minimum acceptance for decent for me as any loss in quality becomes unacceptable to me. So anything less, it may as well go full-mini, as to me it the compression artifacts and banding from lack of bitrate wouldn't be acceptable.

True, I prefer untouched Blurays myself, unless the source has a problem. If I'm just downloading something, WEB-DL is usually good enough for me. x265 isn't half bad, but again, I prefer just owning the Blurays.

If you install latest http://cccp-project.net and it still doesn't play, then the release is simply broken and you'll need to download a different one obviously.

Either way a 350MB 1080p at an hour long is going to look like a massive pile of shit.

A decent encode at 1080p for a live-action hour long tv show is going to normally be 4-6 GB an episode.

4-6GB isn't decent, that's perfect range (not perfect but transparent for sure). I would say a WEB-DL would fit his needs. That said, an untouched WEB-DL, not an encode of one.

As for the file size, it is x265. It won't be very good, but it's certainly serviceable for those with shitty connections.

  13. Gonna be sick. A copy of Danganronpa 2 should be in my hands this Thursday, and prolly done by Sunday - only took me 1 weekend to finish the first. Gonna watch the anime (based HTT), look for a copy of Ultra Despair Girls, hopefully play that and then start the wait for this. Hopefully I'll have some more disposable income by the release of Super Danganronpa V3 so I can just buy it from retail on release rather than hold off and hope for a good deal online.

P.S. - If you're new to the series, just go in blind. I was spoiled for the first game but luckily I'm going in blind for the second. The first was soooo good, even with spoilers. Without, it would have been a fair bit better, but it's an amazing game either way.

you, sir, are anti progression. :P

Cinema isn't supposed to look like a video game. The whole point is that you're supposed to feel as though you're indirectly observing, not directly experiencing. Video games have a high frame rate because it's supposed to immerse you in something, to make you feel as though that is actually what you're doing. Movies aren't supposed to make you feel as though you're doing something, but to feel as though you're watching someone do something. Completely different purposes. Think about it this way - when you watch Cowboy Bebop, the point of the show is to enjoy Spike's adventures, not to think what your adventures might be like. I, amongst many others, think we need to progress past this stage in media of shitty gimmicks like HFR and 3D, and instead focus more on the content of the media itself. Thank fully, most companies aren't adopting 48fps never mind anything above it - it's pretty safe to say 48fps, 60fps media etc. won't happen, thank god. If anything, you are the one who is anti progression.

TL:DR Movies aren't video games. Don't be one of the idiots that confuses or tries to dilute the two together.

EDIT - I meant the TL;DR as more of a wide response, rather than one directed at Professa X

I think it's pointless if anime and cartoons are not being made in 4K resolution. I did purchase a 40 inch 1080p TV in 2012, but someone stole it from me, now I'm planning to buy 50 inch 1080p TV within the year.

That's a shame about your old 40". Anyhow, I would just stick with that plan in your situation - 4K is still kind of pointless. I only bought 4K because it beat all the specs of the 1080p TV I was going to buy, and so happened to be on sale at the same time.

4k with 400+ dpi. movies need to be shot at 4k. old stuff in 4k are probably professionally upscaled but upscaled nontheless. i'm just waiting for animated content drawn at 4k and animated 60fps.

60fps, for film and television, is hideous. If I wanted to watch something with motion like that, I would go to a stage play or watch a soap opera. Proper cinematic content should always be 24fps, nothing more. Besides, no one's going to want to deal with the effort of animating twice as many frames for even 48fps, never mind even 60fps. 4K is great, but frame rate should always stay at 24fps - anything above just looks too fast, ruins any kind of cinematic feel.
