In case anyone here didn't hear the news, it's official - Gravity Falls is not coming back for a third season. Next two episodes, Weirdmageddon 2 and Weirdmageddon 3 will serve as the last. #GravityFinale

About to drop five whole Canadian dollarinos on a rental of what may be the real 1080p WEBDL of The Iron Giant - Signature Edition. Got TunesKit installed, and the length checks out at 1:30:01. Wish me luck!

To keep the subs, download CCExtractor, change input to MP4, drag the .m4v file into it and start the process. It will spit out a .srt file and then all you have to do is mux that along with the video file into a .mkv container.
-
Oh, alright. I'll try and get the subs. I tried to watch with subs in iTunes, on the original rental, and I couldn't even get it to show up there, never mind work in TunesKit or MKVMerge or anything. I might go and re download it in 720p and or something, IDK. I have the movie and the 5.1 audio, which are the main necessities. No promises, but I'll try.
-
Just checked - they only had French and German subs to begin with. Plus I rented instead of buying it (at a 3rd of the price!) and I already deleted the original file, and apparently you can't re download rentals? Idk, whatever, I got the main event so it's all good. Expect it up on here via MEGA some time next week maybe? Generally soon.

Annd someone's beaten me to releasing a dual audio copy of Pokemon Origins. He used crappy subs though, and the release seems bloated IMO, looks like he used ABR, which I wouldn't bother using on an HD encode. So I'll continue working on my release

Where does it say he used CRF18?
-
-
Ah, I see. I figured he used CRF because he listed the encode bitrates at ~7700kbps, just figured he used that as an ABR. Looks like a nice encode to me! Either way, I still plan on working on mine since I've worked on dub subs already. I might use a lower CRF too, I haven't actually encoded anything yet, just been working on getting the audio and subs all fixed up.

Any Brazilian speaking users here? Found raw files for Irmao do Jorel that need subbing. Someone's already subbed two of the episodes, but if someone could help me create a definitive and consistent set for the whole series, our files would, of course, be the superior set.
-
Anyone have any knowledge when it comes to fixing frame blended 29.97 content? Trying to get a 1080p copy of an otherwise 720p only show out there, but the only 1080p source suffers from frame blending and aliasing issues.
-
Anyone interested in Sym-Bionic Titan? I've found 720p HDTV copies of episode 11 and 12, both of which weren't covered by the scene release groups that did the rest of the show.

I guess we'll have to deal with the 720 copies from the TV with a logo. Or we can eventually get these DVDs from Australia in April.
-
True. I'll see about grabbing these HDTV rips, they're on my seedbox as of now. I'm seeding for another day or so, so if you want them now would be a good time to get them.
-
Is this still available?
-
Anyone know where I can find ISOs of the blue brick DVDs of Dragon Ball? Might need the audio for a maybe project ;)
-
Crap, my laptop's performance has gone way down the drain. Currently backing all my important stuff up so I can do a factory reset. I mean, encodes are taking about 6x as long as they did a month ago. If I want to get anything encoded anytime soon, I guess I better clear the bugger up.
-
For anyone interested in my encodes, I'm currently working on Ducktales, Pokemon Origins, Samurai Jack and the Johnny Bravo holiday specials. I might work on Azumanga Daioh, One Piece, Goof Troop and/or Peanuts, but due to the various issues with those projects they're on hold and I won't guarantee I'll be able to do them. Thanks.

And as for the Dragon Ball project, it doesn't look like we were actually going to be able to get all the sources anyways. Not necessarily dropped, but I'm doubtful it'll happen at this rate.
-
I'll still work on those first 4 because I've gotten a good bit into them all. All the others were missing sources or needed to be redone.
-
And I meant One Piece as in One Piece 4kids. Not interested in the Funimation dub or any subbed releases.
-
For anyone interested, the rest of my Samurai Jack Season 1 encodes are going up now. They'll be linked here soon.
-
Going to watch The Peanuts Movie soon. Heard some good things about it, pretty excited. Anyone else seen it/going to/planning to see it?
-
I'm hearing about issues with registration from people trying to sign up. Apparently the sign up email is coming up blank. Idk, I couldn't register until I tried using Twitter myself. Anyhow, figured I would let you know.

Yeah, I don't know what the issue was. I just told the guy to make a burner Twitter account and try to sign up that way.
-
Did they never receive the email, or they got it but it had no content in it?

-
That's what they said. They were able to get in with Twitter though, so it shouldn't be an issue for now.
-
Oh, and of course Nyaa is back down again, after about a half hour of up time. Jfc, they need to figure their shit out already. It's been like this for over a week now, no?
-
2 weeks. It's not nyaa themselves but some no life who's DDoSing them.

Oh, great. Didn't this happen last year too, some basement dweller buying up a bot net and DDoSing all the anime sites for a few weeks? Probably the same one.

Probably has something to do with the shit skiddiks did.

OK, second time around - I've found a complete collection of all the episodes of Kirby - Right Back at Ya!. All logoless until episode 51, after which the episodes are rather noisy TVRips. Most of them are stretched out though, so I plan to try to fix them at some point.

Are they Xvid or H.264?
-
H.264 - sadly, they're all YouTube rips, as it turns out. Nonetheless, still the best there is. Pretty sure there just aren't any torrents for this particular dub.
-
I think most of them were actually from 4Kids' old streaming side. They stopped around the 50s, and I remember seeing them on some other sites before the Kirby Channel was created. (Said channel showed all 100.)
I just wish I could find 96-99 in their complete, non-movie formats but I can only find episode 100 (and it has a logo on it). utsosuki (sp?) from [C-W] did 96-99 (going by Japanese numbering) awhile ago, but those torrents are now dead.
-
Saw Star Wars today. Great movie, solid 8.5/10. Similar to A New Hope, but it was different enough that I was still very entertained.
-
So I'm working on Pokemon Origins again. Any how, there are 3 options for the English dub.
1) - AC3-2.0 192kbps ADC DVD
2) - AAC-2.0 192kbps CodeDonut WEB
3) - AAC-2.0 160kbps Pikanet8 WEBDL
I'll need to encode the end song from the JP audio and splice that in, as none of the dub sources have the end song included, they just cut off at the end of the episode. Any ideas/suggestions?
-
What source is that CodeDonut release? Typically at same bitrates if encoded ideally; AAC would be better since it compresses better than AC3. However depending on actual source and the encode method it's not necessarily going to be the outcome. So I'd probably just go with the DVD audio option and as always don't encode lossy audio. Since you're splicing in audio, in the end I'd say the codec of the JP audio would sway the decision. You'd be better off appending rather than encoding. Encoding lossy audio always creates further loss. So if the JP audio is AAC; go with the AAC option and append the audio together with no encoding required.
-
I'm encoding the Japanese BD, so the Japanese audio is ~1500kbps PCM (or good enough to encode and use as a source for the ED song). I'm planning on encoding that in FLAC, but if I end up needing to drop the file size I may go with AAC instead. I think I'll encode the Japanese audio to the same specs as the DVD and splicing the ED song in, since the DVD is the highest quality dub audio there is considering it's the only English retail release out there. Apart from that, there's just those sketchy WEB sources.

-
So, considering that the blurays for Gangsta probably won't get finished, anyone interested in dual audio copies from WEB/HDTV sources? I might be game if there's interest.
-
I'm thinking 720p raws for video and Japanese audio, Funi web for English audio and sign subs, and HorribleSubs to OCR and style/edit new soft subs in.
-
No need. Moodkiller is already doing Gangsta., and despite the JPBD likely not being finished, at some point FUNimation can and will release their own USBD for it to be completed. Until then, Moodkiller will likely finish off his release using the best options available for video and subs; so unless you just want to work on it, you could just let Moodkiller do his thing and put your time and effort into something else!

-
Oh, OK. Didn't think Moodkiller was gonna finish his. Alright then, nm! Thanks Koby!

So, if anyone here was working with DD-2.0 mono 448kbps audio, would y'all keep both duplicate channels or down sample to 1 channel?
-
So, If I want to burn some DVD9 ISOs I have to play in any old DVD player, does it matter whether I use DVD + or - R? Or are they only different in burning methods, and the same for playback?

I usually find a 100 pack of DVD-R for about $15 USD. While stores like Walmart and Best Buy sell the same pack for about $55. -_-
-
Where? I usually only buy name brand stuff since I don't keep ISOs after burning.
-
Usually Office Depot. As for brand, it differs: Philips, Memorex, Verbatim, etc... Just whatever they have cheap at the time. I use to use dvds for backing up things, but decided it was just as cheap and easier to swap out for better releases using lots of hard drives.
-
TIL - Syncing audio is a complete PITA. Props to everyone who's synced up stuff by hand before - just now feeling it's extent of totally sucking.
-
Wow, MeGUI is great. Perfect balance between the customization of command line encoders and the ease of GUI encoders

-
Wow, with the right configs, HEVC can work wonders. I've been able to produce a lossless encode of The Boondocks at 150MB, without encoding audio, just optimizing video. Shit's crazy. I've been working at CRF19 though, so I might up it to CRF18 and see where that takes me. Here are some screens I took of a CRF19 sample I made a while ago, so not quite the quality I'm playing with now. Screens - screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/160092/

Yeah, I understand that it looks bad, but what I was trying to get across is that it's still very close, I would say near indistinguishable but that might just be me, to the source. The encode looks bad, but again that's because the best source is the season set DVDs, and all of those DVDs were 360p upscales to begin with, so it would never look good. Encodes can still look close, which is what I was trying to demonstrate.
