Wow, with the right configs, HEVC can work wonders. I've been able to produce a lossless encode of The Boondocks at 150MB, without encoding audio, just optimizing video. Shit's crazy. I've been working at CRF19 though, so I might up it to CRF18 and see where that takes me. Here are some screens I took of a CRF19 sample I made a while ago, so not quite the quality I'm playing with now. Screens - screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/160092/

Yeah, finding artifacts and stuff is not easy if you don't know what you should look for!
Take if from me and Stay that way!! The world is a better place when you can enjoy watching garbage the same way you enjoy the real thing!!

Yeah, I understand that it looks bad, but what I was trying to get across is that it's still very close, I would say near indistinguishable but that might just be me, to the source. The encode looks bad, but again that's because the best source is the season set DVDs, and all of those DVDs were 360p upscales to begin with, so it would never look good. Encodes can still look close, which is what I was trying to demonstrate.
