The Turn Back the Pendulum Kenpachi was a lazy bum who never showed up to captain's meetings. This is canon. And unless someone else killed that one and was then killed by Kenpachi of Zaraki, it makes the notion of filler character Maki Ichinose following a "noble captain, out to change the sould society" a complete adaptation-induced plot hole. However, because it's filler, nobody cares, so it's okay.

Will Sasuke pull a Darth Vader move in the end?
blank sentiment replied to Libitinarius's topic in Anime District
Ungrateful towards who? The brother who mind raped him by forcing him to watch the entire clan die over and over again until he ended up so messed up that all he can comprehend concerning his family is that Itachi is the only one who wouldn't want revenge against those who ordered their deaths? You do realize that Danzo probably used Shusui's eye in order to force a breakdown in negotiations. That's right, there is a very good chance that the reason the Uchihas were really killed is just because Danzo wanted their eyes and thought he had a good chance to get them, since the Uchiha were disgruntled and he could "help" things along. By manipulating them. Remember that by the time Shusui got to Itachi and had Itachi kill him, Danzo already had one of his eyes. So, in a nutshell, here's Sasuke's life story from age 8 on. 1. Lost his entire family in an incident similar to but far worse than the incident when Kumogakure tried to kidnap Hinata to steal her eyes. 2. Was forced to watch the massacre over and over again. 3. Ended up being set directly on the path of revenge by his "noble" brother. All because his brother wanted a suicide tool and thought that Sasuke being a "hero" for killing him would make things better. 4. Trained for 5 years to kill Itachi. When he met Itachi again, Itachi destroyed him utterly. Then, he mind raped him again with a little trip down memory lane. 5. Itachi then said that Sasuke wasn't worth his time and Naruto was more important to his goals. 6. Sasuke leaves after that. Naruto chases after him when he isn't necessarily planning to stay away permanently. Sasuke chooses NOT to kill Naruto in the end because he doesn't want to become his brother. 7. Spends another 3 years training, but this time with Orochimaru, who actually wants Sasuke to get powerful. Because of Orochimaru's ulterior motive, Sasuke is on permanent alert in this time. 8. Sasuke goes after and absorbs Orochimaru, who by the way, was planning on hijacking his body that day. That's not being an ingrate, that's taking him down BEFORE he can try to steal your existence. 9. Sasuke assembles his team, fights Deidara, then meets Itachi. Cue fight filled with insane ranting from Itachi. 10. Tobi then picks Sasuke up right before the Konoha team sent to find him and/or Itachi. He would have been content to go back to the village at that point, but there were still other ways to screw him over, so that wasn't going to happen. 11. Tobi then hits Sasuke with a bunch of shocking truths and half-truths. His entire world is destroyed a second time. 12. Sasuke declare vengeance, not only for the situation that Itachi was forced into, but for the command that ordered his family, the most important thing in his life, as well as the thing that all his decisions are centered around, killed. Sasuke is pissed because of his total familial devotion. Itachi might not have wanted revenge, but all the other members of the family likely would be just a little bitter and partial to a bit of retribution here. 13. Sent on a mission that there was little chance of completing safely. Against Bee. 14. Finally manages to kill Danzo. The true source of the Uchiha massacre is now dead. Of course, Sasuke never learned the probable true reason for the tragedy. 15. Sakura of all people tries to kill him. Then his eyesight craps out on him after two missions. 16. Sold to Kabuto by Tobi. Tobi still plans to use him as the Replacement-Nagato. 17. Sent to the battlefield with new Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Not that it's anything to be grateful for. Likely, Tobi plans to force Sasuke's EMS to level up again into Rinnegan. Then use him for the Moon's Eye plan. Yeah. Sasuke has lots of stuff to be grateful for in his life. From his brother who f****d up his head for half his life to shape him into a suicide method for him, to his village, which ordered his family dead then the elder responsible stole eyes from the corpses. All the way to his "benefactor" who plans to use him to enslave the world then turn him over to Kabuto for "study". Face it, his life sucks. It's partly his fault, but mostly that of Itachi and Danzo. -
no, they are dead in Bleach. A Soul Reaper is explicitly a usually human ghost with strong spiritual powers. The Soul Society is literally the afterlife, and when a Whole dies without being killed by a Quincy or a Hollow, barring special circumstances such as death by Hogyoku, their bodies break down into Reishi and the essence of the soul reincarnates into a new, living person. That does raise the question of what happens when Orihime rejects a Soul Reaper's death, though. It's something interesting, but I don't want to think too hard about it now, I'm still hurting from working out EXACTLY how Tsukishima's Book of the End works in all of the functions that it's demonstrated up to now.

don't get me wrong, I love both those brothers' characters because their interactions are so brilliant. The problem is that the fangirls tend to love Itachi for being sexy and gloss over all the undesirable stuff. I say that both of them are more interesting as characters because it's not a black and white situation, it's very messy.

to be fair, it's pretty much canon that Danzo mind controlled the Daimyo in the middle of a meeting, and can be inferred that he used the Kotoamatsukami to force a negotiation breakdown so that he could order the Uchiha massacre. And when you look back at the response people had, most people didn't really seem to care that Danzo was dead. Sasuke is an interesting case in that he really hasn't done much in the unforgivable acts department yet. He just stabbed through his then-creepy stalker to kill a major asshole. He plans to do things that are categorized as unforgivable, but hasn't actually done any of those things yet.

first, it's not turning back time, it's flat out rejecting the fact that the event happened. Second, just because you find a character "annoying" does not make them useless. Third, Ichigo would be dead so many times over without that healing. I seem to remember a moment when Aizen interrupted his theme song power up by blocking Tensa Zangetsu with one finger and almost completely severing Ichigo's spine. Yeah, that's pretty hard even for an experienced healer to handle.

consider that Vol 20-49 (almost 30 volumes) was pretty much the Aizen superarc. A 10 year arc doesn't seem to far fatched.
-
This is reportedly from Jump. I seem to remember Kubo stating at the end of the Aizen arc (vol 20-49) that the next arc (X-Cution, 49-53/54) would be shorter (it was) followed by a much longer one. Given that from the reveal that Aizen was evil to his defeat took almost 30 volumes, one overreaching "arc" containing several smaller component arcs could easily last 10 years if it's supposed to be longer.

You missed the point of using that name. The point of using that name wasn't to intimidate everyone into standing down, it was to rile everybody into action and make them act as it it were the real Madara they were up against. He wasn't hiding behind the name, he was using it because he knew he would cause mass panic like that for his plan.

If by "easily" you mean "they're covered in heavy injuries and their suboordinates are commenting that they look like they really took some serious damage" then yes. it was exceedingly easy.

Which do you prefer FMA or FMA Brotherhood?
blank sentiment replied to samurai_lord's topic in My Two Cents
Brotherhood. I couldn't stand the direction that Bones decided to take the Homunculi in for the first anime, specifically with how to kill them. Forcing them into contact with the "original person" then being able to kill them not only makes NO sense, but it also violates the law of Equivalent Exchange relating to their healing completely. The Manga/Brotherhood method is consistent with the established rules, especially when you know that a Philosophers' Stone is basically condensed soul energy, which is used to fuel an energy-mass conversion, which is simply deeper physics and consistent with the rules, as matter has both particle and wave properties, and energy can then logically be used to combine bits of matter in the air and "freeze" energy into matter, allowing a sufficient supply of material to be provided for the regeneration. You don't have enough energy left to heal, you die. You can't make the equivalent exchange, you lose the benefit. That consistency with the series rules combined with the manga and Brotherhood's idea of trying to keep moving on forward and learn from past mistakes to grow and become stronger is more satisfying than watching more and more s*** pile up onto the party, screwing the mechanics of alchemy until death becomes something akin to a bungee jump or a see-saw. -
What whining? he's just like: I'm going to get stronger so I can kill him. Then I'm restoring my clan. I'm not going to talk about what happened. He really didn't whine about anything except having made no progress compared to his brother after several years of training. And thing is, even if he did whine, he had that right. His life sucked. Anyone who says otherwise is lying just so that they can feel better about hating on him and calling him emo. No. His life genuinely sucks, and it's mostly Itachi's fault. Then again, Danzou can also be linked to a LOT of it. I wouldn't doubt that Danzou used the Kotoamatsukami in order to sabotage the peace negotiations with the Uchiha, just so he could push for (and brainwash to finish ordering) a massacre, all to collect sharingan from the corpses for the experiments he was running with Orochimaru.
-
I though of Itachi as noble for a little while after learning the truth. Then I said "no. that man was not noble. Basically, he initiates genocide in order to prevent a civil war, when it can be inferred from what we know about Danzou and his abilities that the negotiations were actually sabotaged so that Danzou could push for extermination then pick up all the now-free eyes from the corpses, then Itachi repeatedly mind rapes his surviving brother in order to turn him into a suicide tool, shows up later and mind rapes his brother again. Later, he prepares to force his brother onto another path of Itachi's choosing. He puts the crow bearing the Kotoamatsukami into Naruto so that should Sasuke stray from Itachi's chosen path, he can brainwash Sasuke into following that chosen path to the death, effectively robbing him of both his free will for choosing a purpose in life, as well as the knowledge that his mind got ****ed again. I gained a bit of respect back for him once he used the Kotoamatsukami on himself to break free from Kabuto, but that action doesn't negate all the s*** e put his brother through. Itachi is the reason Sasuke is messed up, and he did it so that he would have his own suicide tool.

All Orochimaru ended up being in the end was a man who had lost himself was was driven by the desire to not die. The point was that he was someone who had fallen irredeemably far just so that he could live to see if Hiruzen was right about his parents reincarnating eventually. Kabuto took Orochimaru's remains into himself because he didn't want to just live bound to someone greater than himself. He decided that he was going to make something greater of himself and actually move forward. In the motivation and resolve department, he's got Orochimaru beat at this point. Not to mention the fact that while Orochimaru feared Itachi's power, Kabuto's matching magnificent bastard gambits with Tobi, and looks like he has a decent chance of screwing him over at this point. Not to mention the fact that he was able to completely blackmail Tobi with Madara's revived form.

Naruto is faster in sage mode not in kyubi mode? huh?
blank sentiment replied to zino_go's topic in Anime District
He used his Nine Tails form a lot up to that point, and had to conserve it. In addition, he needed raw physical power to take out the stake, and that's what Sage Mode excels in. It was a matter of going with the best form to fit the circumstances. In addition, in Nine Tales form, he's faster, but less precise, and he needs all the precision he can get in order to hit that stake. Not to mention that Kurama was pretty much holding in his power until Naruto can prove his intent. Doing it without his help proved that he was both serious and worthy of full cooperation. -
And how many times would the main cast have died without Orihime? Including your precious Rukia? I seem to remember a certain incident when Grimmjow shoved his hand through Rukia's chest cavity. She kind of needs those organs to not die again. She needed Orihime to get those organs fixed. And that new Defiant Shield really isn't a "useless" thing. Oh, and lets not forget that Orihime protected everyone from the Kototsu on the way to the Soul Society. Without Orihime, the expedition would have died before even making it even close to being able to save Rukia. And, let's not forget the other resurrections and healings. Rukia's effective kill count would be D-Roy, that one sand guardian, and, Aaroniero. However, that last one was effectively a draw. And only D-Roy would be on that list without Orihime. Compare all the healings and resurrections in some cases that Orihime's pulled off. Statistically, Orihime's actually racked up more points towards being "MVP".
-
Definitely Clannad/Clannad After Story.
-
Refer to my previous post. In one of the guidebooks, he was asked about Ichigo and Rukia. His response is that they're close friends, but it's not love. Orihime was originally designed as something akin to the love interest since the original pilot chapter.

Not only that, but it's an improved version.

Well, that's pretty much what their job is. They send souls from the world of the living to one of the two worlds that the dead inhabit. Job description aside, Soul Reapers is a bit more original, and since their nothing more than human (usually, but sometimes you get ones like Komamura) with powers derived from their own spirit energy, as opposed to being "gods".

Who Likes Jiraya Sensei ? Is there any reason to hate him?
blank sentiment replied to desai's topic in Anime District
Except, well, knowing him, he probably left Naruto his fortune. -
I watch both versions if I can, then when I re-watch, I go with the one that I liked better, unless I feel like watching the other one. Some stuff works better one way or the other, and sometimes, a localization can be better. Personally, I multitask a lot, so watching dubbed lets me at least get some audial stimulation while doing my work at college, so I tend to watch anime more that way for now.
-
It wasn't exactly with "fair ease". He basically admitted "I have to end this now or I could die." There's pretty much a inversely proportional relationship between the amount of dicking around Kenpachi does in a fight and how easy the fight is. Compare the fights with Ichigo and Nnoitora in which he tried to prolong them as long as possible with his abject slaughter of Giriko, when he didn't dick around at all, even cutting Giriko off (pun intended) mid "drunk on power rant". If Kenpachi even had a Shikai and fought completely seriously, no contest.
-
What he was actually afraid of was his cover being blown, ruining his bluff that he needed to get the war going. Kabuto was threatening to almost completely destroy his plan, and all Tobi could to to prevent that was let Kabuto have his way.
-
Kabuto's shown himself to be anything but lame. He's constantly keeping himself sharp by fighting the will of the Orochimaru Pieces grafted onto him, and managed to blackmail Tobi. Not to mention Orochimaru summons 2 Hokage and tries to summon the 4th when it won't work. That's the best he can come up with for Edo Tensei. Kabuto raises every notable shinobi he can think of. Including ones that are even just able to play off the emotional baggage some characters have.
