Vash the Stampede. (from Trigun) Simply, yet effective. I haven't forgotten the name since. Heero Yuy. (from Gundam Wing) Cause c'mon, Heero...like Hero in english (Wing Zero, your my Heero, haha) Also, not really cool, but Gohan from Dragonball Z, but mainly cause I discovered it translates to Rice, so I'll never forget lol.

Hasn't this happened to everyone, especially now, with the internet and the absolutely massive amount of information everywhere? Even just reading a review on something, whether it be an anime, or video game, you could end up spoiling so much for yourself. A quick example, I started watching One Piece a long time ago. And stopped for a little, never managing to catch up to the most recent episodes, but I always kept track of the releases by Kaizoku-Fansubs on their website. In the end, I forget how or what website I found out from, but I eventually discovered: that Luffy's brother Ace dies later on in the show, as well as a new character Brooke that joins the team later on I was like, eh, o well, can't go back now. Although some shows I honestly don't care sometimes about being spoiled, just cause you almost feel that they'll keep going on forever and ever...*I'm looking at you Naruto*

I gotta go with the original here. I didn't know what to expect before I bought it. I went to the store, picked it up as it was a greatest hits title by then, and the back cover really caught my attention. I was like, really? mixing Disney and Final Fantasy. I never woulda thought that would work, but heck, you manage to suspend belief and just enjoy it for what it is. To that degree, I think the almost surprise or shock value that came with the first Kingdom Hearts is why it gets my pick. Some epic moments too, like the first time you fight Cerberus or when Cloud casually, but slowly walks by you, in that outfit that in my opinion, is much more badass than in KHII. Or how about when you lose your keyblade to Riku and in turn, lose Donald and Goofy, and you end up using that wooden sword with 1atk damage? But it's ok, because that's when THE BEAST joins your team, who literally is A BEAST who crushes every heartless that comes with one hit...god... just BADASS. And let's not forget the final boss of the coliseum, who we all eventually discovered was none other than Sephiroth. Seriously, how awesome was that fight? Remember that ridiculous Sin Harvest move that leaves you with NO MP and 1hp left...jesus. I don't even remember the Sephiroth in KHII, but all I know is I beat him on my first try, with no trouble at all. O yeah, wasn't KHI made before the merger (Squaresoft), while KHII was made by *cough* Square Enix?

Looking for a tear-jerker anime!
PinoyRecca replied to Breathless's topic in Recommendations & Reviews
I recommend Elfen Lied as well. As well, perhaps: Code Geass (ending is pretty sad) Blassreiter (has some sad sacrificial moments) Gungrave (some sad bromance moments) Phantom: Requiem of the phantom (again, some sad moments here and there) Wolf's Rain (the last 4 episodes are crazy) As well, I've heard White Album 2 is kinda sad (Haven't watch myself, but you could try it) -
Should i start watching shoujo/josei anime ?
PinoyRecca replied to skate.101's topic in Recommendations & Reviews
I'm a shounen guy myself, and honestly, the only shoujo anime I can really recommend is Fruits Basket. Mainly cause, the protagonist, Tohru is just plain awesome. That and the english dub is really well done (by Funimation). I don't really know why everyone recommends Ouran High School Host Club. If your a shounen guy like me, your probably not gonna like it. It's got all your shoujo troupes, female protagonist, pretty boys with pretty, glittering eyes, reverse harem... Either way, you can't have possibly run out of good shounen/seinen shows to watch...there are SO MANY. -
As for classics, you should try: Flame of recca Evangelion Yu yu hakusho Trigun Escaflowne Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo And as for newer stuff, you should try: Mirai Nikki Btooom! Blassreiter Psycho Pass Another Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (highly recommend)

Probably the obvious choice, but I am interested in the new Batman vs Superman movie, as well as the second Avengers since they come out in the same year, 2015. I'm curious to see how that battle will end up in the box office. Obviously, the casting for the Batman vs Superman movie has me skeptical so far, but hey, it's Batman. Other than that, I'm curious to see Wreck It Ralph 2, simply because for a movie based on the world of video games, it wasn't half bad.

Bow down. Bow down. In all seriousness, same. I probably shouldn't have procrastinated, but hell, it happens. Other than that, I was your average high school student. Didn't try to Ace every test, but at the same time, didn't just completely flunk it. If life were an anime, I'd be one of those guys in the background of your class.

1) Fights in animes that follow the formula: Fight for a bit, then talk for a lot, (repeated over and over) 2) Bad guy is kicking the main guy's arse all over the place for so long, you can see the bruises and blood, but the main guy somehow uses willpower to overcome every amount of damage incurred and wins. 3) Main character's parents are completely absent for no reason, so the main char lives alone in a massive house(usually) and is somehow still able to pay the bills, clean the house and feed himself. 4) Falling down scenes which are clearly forced: guy slips on non-existent object and falls on girl or vice versa 5) Harem animes that follow the same formula: For example, there is always a beach episode, hot springs episode, cultural festival episode, etc... to the point where only the 1st and last episodes have any story. 6) Fan service: Like any guy, I like my fair share of fan service, but some animes are just borderline hentai.

Downloading all the way!!! I live in Canada, and so I don't really have any complaints with internet speed, It's nice to not have to be connected the internet all the time to watch stuff. That and obviously, streaming sites usually have an enormous amounts of ads which is really annoying. Plus, streaming sites won't be around forever, where as I still have all of my old .avi animes I used to download before there were torrents and direct download sites like megaupload. Good times.

I REALLY wanted to click the japanese dubbing option, but I realise there are those rare occasions where the english dub is actually not half bad, hell, some performances are just downright amazing. As well, I'm sure there are many of us who grew up watching certain animes in english and just can't help liking the english voices, like Dragonball, Pokemon and Sailor Moon. Strangely enough, I started watching Bleach in english dub, and eventually moved to the japanese dubbed version, and the only reason was because at the time, the english dub was only up to like episode 64 or so. I honestly didn't notice much of a difference, voice wise. Same story with Inuyasha. Off the top of my head, the one anime I can think of where the english dub is absolutely superior is "Golden Boy". Seriously, if you haven't watched the english dub of it, do yourself a favour.

How often are you disappointed with the ending of an anime?
PinoyRecca replied to TheLostFool's topic in Anime District
Couldn't have said it any better myself. It's certainly unfortunate when a studio ends up deviating from the source material (usually manga), and the story as well as the ending just gets completely mangled, (ie. soul eater, claymore) I agree though, that at times, there isn't anything the studio can do as the manga isn't finished yet. Or the rare cases, where the studio ran out of money like with GAINAX and Evangelion. With that said, there are some animes where I'm satisfied with the endings, like Deadman Wonderland or more recently, BTOOOM. Just cause they just end off nicely, still following the storyline of the manga closely, all the while leaving room for another season. If all studios did that, I'd be happy. -
I would also say both story and gameplay as well, but if I had to choose, I'd picked gameplay over story. My reason being that a lot of the old classics are built off a simple game mechanic, like Tetris, pacman or space invaders, but they're still pretty fun to play today, and those don't really have any story at all. Isn't this why games like Minecraft or Angry Birds have become so popular? Hell, gameplay is probably the only reason I still play JRPG's. The storyline's are pretty generic for the most part (spiky haired dude saves the world), but I love the different battle systems they all utilize.

Current Anime Series You're Watching and your thoughts on it?
PinoyRecca replied to Koby's topic in Anime District
"Daily Lives of High School Boys"- Only watched the 1st episode so far, but it was absolutely hilarious. The title is basically what's it about. A bunch of high school boys and the kind of shenanigans that all boys do as they grow up. Like picking up a stick and pretending it's a sword, or seeing your friends walk side by side with a unknown girl, wondering if that's their girlfriend. "Blood Lad"- Recommended to me by a friend; watched 3 episodes so far, and to say the least, it's ok. I read reviews it was really funny, but idk, i didn't really found anything that amusing. Might give a few more episodes. -
Finally got around to watching "Mirai Nikki". I thought it was fabolous, like a mix of battle royale, and death note; not of that shounen stuff where willpower supercedes every amount of damage incurred. The main character, Yukki is really annoying, but it doesn't matter cause the secondary character, Yuno is just AWESOME. Psychopath tsundere FTW After looking for a similar show, I watched and finished "BTOOOM", which is pretty good as well. Same kinda concept, where people are put in a survival game where they gotta kill each to survive. Kinda short though at 12 episodes, but it doesn't waste any time in its plot, and the main character is fun to watch.
