@Koby I was under the impression Nyaa was reputable (and didn't know it was basically run by Commie lmao), and that HorribleSubs was always worse than any fansubs could be. I just assumed DDY would be best I suppose (Nyaa's filters had nothing to do with it though, I get my airing stuff from AB). Nonetheless, isn't edited CR still usually better than HS? And what's so bad about DDY in comparison to HS for Re:Zero? Not that I doubt you, just haven't seen any comparisons between the two.

herkz pretty much is the sole active Nyaa mod. Occasionally you'll see fnord, but both of them are Commie staff. Pretty much all 'fansub' groups are just editing official subs these days, the ones that still attempt to translate are usually slow af and stall out *points at Oyatsu, Kurama, Hiryuu*. Thing to remember is editing quality is dependent on the editor. Just because something is edited, doesn't make it definitely better. The only real upside is that you'll typically get signs typeset if a group edits. As for DDY's Re:ZERO, in reviews it's been shown that some lines are edited/changed to completely lose meaning. DDY is also prone to overlocalizing and changing character names: they called Subaru... Balse for instance. In Kabaneri they renamed Mumei to No-Name. I don't mind localization but changing names I can't agree with... and changing stuff like 'Sushi' to 'sandwich' or 'Bento' to 'egg-salad' is just off.

But yeah, conclusion to Nyaa's filters is: Colors don't mean anything in regards to quality.
