  1. It's very unlikely that it has something to do with your registry, just like the guy above mention. My guess it probably has something to do with the drivers, if you were able to get it to work again after reinstalling the OS. They usually don't advise you to update the BIOS unless you really need to, if it's working the way you want it to you have no need to update it, unless you need it for new features that they might implement. If you have issues just reflash it the older BIOS using @BIOS (well that's what I use) and problem solved =)

The main reason I thought it could be something in his registry is as he stated everything including all the functions of his Mother Board work as normal. The programs just aren't registering with the hardware which could relate to driver as well. Maybe it was a little bit of both.

  2. Do you think reinstalling windows would fix it so that I could use hardware monitoring software again, or should I switch back to the asus board I just got back from repairs if I can't find any solutions?

Well as I said I am banking on that it sounds like a Windows issue. Like something in your registry is not communicating right to your bios. In particular the portions for those apps.

You could go, and remove all the entry's in the registry without doing a clean install, but if you got access to s disk I'd just reinstall Windows, and if that dose not work then switch out your MOBO.

  3. In all honesty though this computer was never running at 100%. I was having major issues with my GTX 480. The drivers kept crashing. After doing a ton of research with that It seems to be nvidia's fault with their latest batch of drivers. I switched over to a Radeon HD 7750, and that fixed the crashing issue. I can't open catalyst control center though which is a bit irritating. After that I noticed the screen would flicker from time to time while watching netflix. It wasn't a bad flicker... it was always really quick (less than a second). It only happened once about every 10-20 minutes. I read that people had success fixing that issue by updating their motherboards bios. (not really sure how that would fix it, but I did it anyway.) It didn't fix it. This is the third bios that I updated. Each of them were on different boards. The other two were successful.

I think you're right about it being a problem with MSI's latest revision if this bios. People have been saying that they have went downhill.

    Glad I could help. :).

When it comes to the graphics card being fixed by updating the bios. The reason it was fixed is because the system bios controls the communication between your graphic card, and other devices. Once the new one was installed it came with better instructions on how to deliver the data. Thats the way I like to explain it without sounding to techyish.

  4. I did the stupid thing of updating it through windows using msi live update. Needless to say I somewhat regret doing it XD... This is the first time this has happened to me so I'm not sure how to fix it. I also haven't found much info about it while googling around. If it comes to it I have an asus motherboard that I recently got back from them repairing it that I could use. Unfortunately the software I had was fully up to date. I deleted it to prevent any further issues. I would try reinstalling windows, but I don't have any spare hard drives laying around other than an old 20GB ide HDD. (this motherboard only has sata ports)

What you said did help me, thank you. I will try searching for windows related issues that could potentially occur around these circumstances.

That is rough it sounds pretty unique as you mentioned. Though now that you mention it. I may be a bug msi has with their newer revisions of their bios.

  5. How did you Flash your bios. Meaning was it through a Windows app like @bios or through a bootable flash drive. If you used a program that ran on the OS level such as @bios a error ,ay have occurred either before during, or after the flash was complete at the OS level. In other words your OS is having trouble talking to your bios. You may also want to check, and see if there is any newer versions of the software you're using. The ones you may have, or the version of the bios you flashed may not be fully comparable.

Good luck, and hope this helps.
