  1. Hey guys, wooden instrument here with a topic requesting your input/opinions.

I'm very fond of online games. I've been playing them since 2000~ and to this day there's no other game I can pump as much time into as an MMO.

However, lately we seem to have a lack thereof. Sure, there's plenty of MMOs, but they never try to be innovative! Rather they feel more of a task than a hobby.

So my questions are (You can reply however you like to this threads topic, these are just general questions):

What makes a great online game?

What do you want to see in an online game?

If you play an MMO, what do you/don't you like about it?

    I'll post a response later.

  2. Yup, it works! Downloads queued in a download management program seem to slow down but I image that's due to others using the internet. But the conversions continued just fine. I left the computer while it converted about 22 episodes.

I just had to make sure that the account was never logged out or the computer never went to sleep/hibernated.

  3. Hey guys,

I've been wondering about this for awhile now and never really took the time to see if this worked. I checked Google but it keeps coming up with the opposite of what i'm looking for.

I'm currently converting about 30~ some episodes into a different file format and it's going to take quite some time. Say somebody else wanted to hop onto the computer and switch to their user account while mine is logged in converting videos. So long as they didn't log out of my user account and just chose the option to switch users, would the program that's converting these files still run?

    Thanks.

  4. Hey man, welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new here myself but I love it here. My anime collection would have to agree with me on that too, seeing as how ripe my hard drive is with un-watched anime since I've joined.

We share a common interest in anime drawing and animation. I would like to see some of your stuff in the graphic section some time!

    Cheers.

  5. I refuse to watch anything lacking English dub. Usually I watch anime while I do school work or I work on personal artwork, so I don't feel like watching something I can't understand nor read the subtitles while i'm working.

I've been considering subbed fairy tail mainly because I only have 14(?) episodes that are horrible in terms of the audio lagging behind the video. It doesn't seem like the rest of the episodes are coming soon anyways.

  6. I don't think its supposed to go in a drive bay. I'm messing with the chassis as I type this (even though I still don't have the PSU or graphics cards) and the USB 3.0 panel is maybe half the size of my blu-ray drive. It doesn't slide in easily and there's nothing holding it in place. Is there maybe a bracket or something? I have heard that there are 2.5 to 3.5 brackets for hard drives. As for your edit, can you say where you got that from? Thanks.

Ah, so I was wrong on the dimensions. I was mainly going by the demonstration they show about 3/4 of the way down the Asus link you posted, stating that it's "built to fit any case" which not unless that panel's made of some form of spandex I don't see that happening.

You may need an expansion slot for that, much like in this case:

    EDIT:

Or check out this one which has it pre-built in the picture:

  7. No, it's not supposed to go where those four USB 2.0 ports are. You can connect those front USB 2.0 ports to the motherboard for easier access. The pin cords that plug into the motherboard should be tucked somewhere within the chassis.

As for the USB 3.0 panel, i'm sure you could put it else where such as a drive bay. My only concern is the size of it. It looks like it may not fully fit a drive bay, leaving it open for dust to enter the computer and potentially harm the hardware inside. Choose a good resting place for it wisely! I would suggest have it go through the back somewhere, but that cord would be getting in the way of other things, i'm sure.

EDIT: Yeah, you're supposed to put it in a drive bay. Just checked the sizes. That picture is very deceiving!

  8. It would be the most off-the-wall stoner anime in the history of dolphins! Mega power mosquitoes will rain from the ground and long tailed master chief toads will defeat the def battle turds from outer Wisconsin! And in the end Princess Kangaroo Dolphin will be saved by the guitarist spider monkey plumber from the center of the 7/11!

Well it would definitely be unique, which is something we don't see much of anymore!

  9. We'll need to know a couple of things before we can help out:

    What's your budget looking like?

Do you prefer AMD or Intel processors? Intel's better but far more expensive, while AMD processors are still good and affordable.

How well are you looking for your computer to play games; on their highest settings or lower/recommended settings?

  10. I purchased music from the iTunes store years ago. I don't know how it is now but back in the day they didn't allow you to re-download music you buy. Back then I unfortunately didn't prepare for the worst either and failed to back up most everything that was costly or important to me. D:

  11. So long as you format the hard drive as a Fat32 drive it should be recognizable on Mac (and Windows). I've never heard of +2TB hard drives crashing before so I wouldn't really know what's going on there.

I'm actually more fond of SeaGate to be honest, but have you searched through the best selling external hard drives on NewEgg?

    http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=414&name=External-Hard-Drives&Order=RATING

Usually you can get a good understanding of which HDs are the best by ratings/reviews. The number 1 external hard drive on NewEgg is actually the one i'm using to house all my anime, though I purchased it refurbished from BestBuy for about half that price. It's been used between My Windows PCs, MacBook, a Wii and numerous other things.

  12. :o With no cord? AV4 or HDMI? if so: *runs to shop and buys that tv*. I have been struggling for days with my tv trying to get it to play the videos on my iPod =)

No, unfortunately not. It's a HDTV with USB ports, though I imagine with a smart TV you could have it connect to a wireless household network connected to your PC and stream the files that way. I have no experience with smart TVs though, so i'm just talking out my rear at this point.

I know there's TV boxes that can do that though, smart TV or not.

  13. If you're wondering why Vita is failing so hard, it's because of how much they're trying to screw the consumer.

When you purchase Vita, it comes with everything but a Sony memory stick. Ironically you need a memory stick to even play a game. That's right, the game wont even boot without a memory stick inserted. Instead Vita just becomes a really expensive calculator. Need I remind you that Vita games are cartidges, not disks. Sony is purposely avoiding saving game data to these cartridges in order to profit from their memory sticks, which sell from $30~ for 4GB to $150~ for 32GB. That space will be eaten up fast between save data, install data, and the Sony Store, so you'll end up dishing out even more money for more memory sticks.

Also, if you wanted to borrow your friends Vita games to play on your own Vita, they make extra stuff unobtainable to you such as Trophies.

I honestly think this is where Sony falls flat in the game industry. Ever since they started trying to combat the hackers/homebrew users they focus far more on protecting their investments rather than pleasing their consumers. Rather they're acting like they've been betrayed or something. Which ofcourse between both Sony and Microsoft there's no real difference. Nintendo is about the only one still trying to please the gamers with new and innovative ideas rather than a larger Term of Service agreement to sign off on.

Save your money. Everyone will develop on other systems; Good hardware or not.

This is why Monster Hunter, one of Japan's most popular and profitable game series has moved to Nintendo Systems after their long run on the PSP/PS2.

  14. Hoo boy, DRM is a funny thing. I believe it's what's killing the game industry.

I can't stand knowing I have to be connected to the internet in order to play the majority of my Assassin Creed games I've purchased, not to mention my cousin purchased UNPLAYABLE Prince Of Persia games he purchased from Steam. The most horrible part about it is Steam sells these games despite them being unplayable due to DRM. He didn't get refunded either.

Also, I can't even begin to describe to you how much money I pumped into iTunes. Easily a couple of hundred bucks down the drain when my hard drive crashed. That's the last time i'll ever buy an MP3 on a site other than Amazon.

  15. Thank you so much for all of your input! I just ordered the Vaio, I'll let you know how it is in about a week's time! =)

If it bothers me enough, I might actually do this. Great idea.

Yay! Have fun with it! It's always fun ordering new things like a laptop.

They say when you get a new laptop you should fully charge the battery before the first boot in order to keep it working at it's best, though I don't think this applies for lithium ion batteries.

I rarely ever see a labtop that can run Windows for longer than 2 hours while on max/near max brightness and using a default theme while not plugged in. Back when I had a MacBook Pro, it was able to run for 8 hours unplugged while on max settings using Mac OSX. Whenever I dual-boot ran Windows on the MacBook it still only lasted about 1 hour and 50 minutes on the battery. It's ridiculous the amount of battery power Windows consume.

On the HP laptop I have now, I just always keep it plugged in because of how horrible of a battery life it has, though I believe that's a big no-no.

    Enjoy your new laptop!

  16. I voted Other for WiiMC! I have my wii hacked and put WiiMC on it, which is an awesome media player homebrew app.

It plays/displays every format in video, music, and photos as well as reads DVDs and a couple of other things that i'm not sure what they are.

It's so great! I just plug my hard drive into my wii, choose a series folder, click on the last episode I watched of that series and it goes right down the list.

  17. Mine can as well, yet for some reason it can't read my 500GB portable hard drive that I keep all of my Anime on, so I resort to using my hacked Wii.

It's probably because I have it partitioned into different drive types and the TV can't read it.

I did fix my hard drive the other day though, so it might work now.
