http://vimeo.com/63877454 Why do you guys think more women don't become coders?
-
Interesting video. I honestly see it as a lack of interest in the field from the women side. Some say it's because coding is mostly something us male "nerds" do but I don't see why that would be an obstacle.
-
Women seem to be more interested in the arts and traditional sciences. I would say that most women who pursue it are the ones who started at a younger age.
-
To add to that, I wonder how many of the girls who are programmers end up going as deep as the glorified hackers (in both senses of the word) we hear so much about or if they tend to stay more on the front end web design side/program management side. What's the ratio of women to men contributing to the Linux kernel? How many women are on the team who's going to be porting cryengine to Linux?

My ipod broke today
. And not for a good reason either, the power button just gave out. Still usable just can't turn the screen on or skip songs... -
Bought lemonade from little girls in the neighborhood for the first time ever :3. Mostly because kids don't sell lemonade anymore...

You just ruined it.

Can't say I have ever bought Lemonade like that, only because I have only ever seen it sold like that in cartoons/movies.
-
That's why when you see it in real life you should go buy it!

I wonder when stumbleupon will run out of sites for me to visit... According to it I have over 34,000 stumbles under my belt.

Look at this image! Just look at it!!! I so wanna make this into a sig, but I'm already working on one T_T -> https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zm68nOQku7c/Ub5nvbL5-oI/AAAAAAABkEY/_VAdowNN3Bs/w478-h679-no/Miyako.%28artist%29.full.816588.jpg

Have you seen this? https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2_ID7MieNuc/UPqvBqClnFI/AAAAAAAAVOE/peOX6PF2TWQ/s373-no/azusa02.gif? I would totally make you a sig out of it, but I have 0 experience doing animated sigs
.-
Ah yes I have come across that. Almost used it as a background picture awhile back. Opted for this though. http://oi39.tinypic.com/mn6df.jpg

Do you know what that ごろにゃん thing is supposed to mean? I don't like that other image as much. The chibi just doesn't seem as cute for some reason
. If I find more interesting azunyan pics I'll run them by you

I never really got into the whole wall thing... maybe that's a reason why I don't really use facebook ._.
-
Or it's cause facebook sucks lol

I was reading your description and noticed what (might?) be a mistake. 日本人はあまりにも大丈夫ですが <- is saying that Japanese *people* are OK... I think you want 日本語.

Unless you are OK with Japanese people but just don't like their kanji ^^;
-
Lol. So how do you know so much about Japanese? Were you born there or were you able to learn it?
-
Took Japanese in school
. My Japanese level is at like... "maybe-kinda-won't-die-as-long-as-he-stays-in-an-english-speaking-area" ^^; I've got the fluency and kanji vocabulary of a 7 year old
.

Final exams are the anesthetic schools give to their students to dull the shock of having yet another semester go by so quickly.

That is actually pretty awesome
. I'm just beginning to look into web programming (and a bit of design) this summer as a project for myself. I have a guide stickied in the tech support section that deals with buying computer parts. On of my goals within the next year from now is to convert that guide into a website. I'm still at the beginning of educating myself on web programming though (been through stuff about xhtml, css, mysql, and javascript). I'm teaching myself html5 and css3 now, and I'm eventually aiming at learning some advanced javascript, jquery, and php to make my guide a site.I wanna hard code everything about the site (i.e. in a text editor) since I want the experience of building a dynamic website from a completely white page, so it's gonna be a while before I even start on my end goal ^^; However, even after only 2 weeks of looking at this stuff I'm starting to see how to do the guide.

Ah. From what I understand about design as a career, jobs come and go. I don't think most companies (unless it's a design company) keep a designer on full time. Usually it's just a short contract. If you could get the skills to become a web master though then you could go beyond just design and also take up maintenance.

IT/desktop support paid summer internship set to last until mid August
. I'm not really planning to go into technical support once I graduate, but it's what I've been doing every summer since I got out of high school
. I actually prefer a more creative job like application programmer or web programmer.
