Damn that's a real shame. Do you know what the raw group's reason for stopping was?

Great news indeed! I love everything Lupin since watching the AnimEigo released movies on LD. Only recently have I been able to watch the TV series and despite their age these are fantastic classic anime.

Does anyone know if any group is doing or planning Legend of Galactic Heroes fansubs from the Japanese Blurays? Central is just doing DVDs.
I know the Japanese Blurays are upscales, but even upscaled these usually look better than DVDs that need deinterlacing and other artefact-removal.
I've long given up on this series coming to our shores so fansub is the only route left for a decent looking copy.
Really no-one? Don't tell me none of you guys like LoGH

Thanks for the welcome both of you! And from a fellow "moppet" too. I had to google that one

Well, these little china players do a pretty decent job of it. It's just that you cannot be sure these will display the subs unless you try. Not fun when you quickly drop a bunch of files one there for a trip and on the way notice you don't have subs

But for native english stuff they're great. Try the MP4nation forums, they are dependant on a very nice shop but talk about all kinds of brands. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links, but if you google mp4nation you'll get there in no time.
edit: I forgot! They're cheap! Mine was less than $100 shipped from Hong Kong to Europe!

I'm looking for a portable videoplayer with built-in screen (4"-5" 800*480 is fine) and good battery time. It should play anime mkv flawlessly, which means it should play up to 1080p, multiple audiotracks, and support all important subtitle formats like ass, srt, etc
Currently I'm using a china player. These things are cheap and do reasonably well if you pick a good one. Mine is a so9800 chip based Ainol V9000HDA. It has a good screen, plays 1080p flawlessly (except if the mkv has header compression set to ON, but that is quickly rectified with mkvtools) but does not play ass subs very well and if the mkv has multiple audio tracks, they go out of sync pretty badly.
Any players you can recommend? Or does the future lie with Android tablets? Do the Android video players handle anime mkv well?

Hi All
Since I've been asked so nicely when subscribing, I'll post a little introduction. I've been into anime since I was a kid, and that was a looooong time ago. Think Galaxy Express era
(that long ago already!)Been collecting fansubs since the tape era, laserdiscs, dvds, now blurays. Seen the entire technological evolution and prices drop through the floor. Makes me wish I was born 20 years later, would have wasted less money on sets I could get for a cinch a few years later

I was lured over here by the promise of some fansubs I'm looking for (Google is my friend, or so he claims) and couldn't find on torrents or usenet. Looking forward do those and hopefully having some nice chats with the young uns here!

What portable anime mkv player?
