  1. Quick update.

I liked Blue Gender. Yep, I originally thought he was a whiny goit at first, and I liked the role reversals. The intrinsic messge was great too. Would I rate it as one of my top 10 fav's? Prolly not tbh, but it was fun :)

Downloading Shikabane atm (NZ's speeds aren't great lol)

More to come, let you guys know how it goes, thx again :)

  2. In no order:

Tad E. Williams - Memory, Sorrow & Thorn (very different take on traditional fae type myths!)

Raymond E. Feist - Magician Series, Daughter of the Empire Series, Serpent War Saga (ALL very very good & well written)

David Eddings - The Belgariad, (avoid the Malloreon & Redemption of Althalas), The Elenium, The Tamuli (Sparhawk rocks lol)

George Lucas & Chris Claremont - Chronicles of the Shadow War (essentially it's 3 books details what happens after the movie "Willow" ... and it's good!)

Melanie Rawn - Dragon Prince series, Dragon Star Series

Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickman - Famous for Dragonlance ... read their Death Gate Cycle!! Awesome and I try to read it once a year or so :)

Terry Brooks (Shannara Series), R. A. Salvatore (Drizz't series) have already been mentioned and are excellent reading. Salvatore's a fencer and it shows in his writing lol.

Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time) has as well ... be careful if you start, he's died leaving it unfinished, it gets VERY repetitive at times rehashing details you well and truly already know ... they hired a fan and good writer to finally finish the damned thing after nearly 20 years and 13 books *groans and rolls eyes*. Having said that, I own it and enjoyed it and HATE Jordan with the passion and fire of 1000 suns :)

If you can handle mixing in a little sci-fi with your fantasy try:

Julian May - The Saga of the Exiles. Well worth the read and a great bridge between fantasy/sci-fi

If you're into post-apocalyptic fantasy try:

Robert Adams - The Horseclans. Just found my books again and am loving them.

  3. 1000 apologies. Still getting used to the new set up :s

Already have Claymore actually lol. Enjoyed it, liked the story, animation was okayish, but in the end it just felt like there was something missing from it. Not explaining my position well, I know, but that's what happens when I've been driving for 6 hours over the past 3 days and played 3 different larps :P

  4. lol. Guess it would look like that :) I think it's more of a case of I fulfil my other needs in movies and series.

Nope, I've never used those links, but I'll be sure to try them out and thank you for pointing me at them!

Off to check those suggestions out, thx Moppet. Feel free to suggest anything else, the ones I mentioned were only the ones I really likes and kept :)

  5. Heya folks,

Been forver since I posted, had a lot on in life, yadda yadda yadda. Been away from my anime addiction for a while now ... just in time to discover Bleach had finished :P

SO, essentially. after some help on some things seriously cool to watch :)

    Things I've enjoyed so far:

    Angel Beats

    Ao No Exorcist

Bleach (yeah yeah, leave it alone already lol)

Black Lagoon (OMG did I LOVE this!!!)

    D. Gray Man

    Darker than Black (mmmmmm)

Deadman Wonderland (pls tell me we can see more soon?!?!?)

    Death Note

    Elfen Lied

Evangalion (the new one, NOT the old seriously whiny one)

    Freezing (I'm 40 years old, I can like boobs if I want! :P )

Hell Girl (although I still need season 3)

    Hellsing (especially the OVA)

High School of the Dead (although I agree with the general consensus about it)

Rin - Daughters of Mnemosyne (very nice and graphic ty!)

    Seikon No Qwaser

Sekirei (more plot and fighting styles than Freezing ... )

    Soul Eater

    Tokko (wish there'd been more)

    Wolf's Rain

What I like to watch, which may not be so obvious, is anime that has decent graphics, good plot, characterisation, bloodshed and if it hints at sex (prefer if it doesn't actually HAVE sex, but I'm not squeamish), that's even better.

Currently finishing Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, I watch Fairy Tail with my daughters.

If you could be amazing and add a link that's rock as well, trying to go through the maze of broken links here and in other places can be ... ahhh ... less than sanguine lol.

    THANK YOU!!!

  7. Ethically you're on dangerous ground there failedhornet. Killing to stay alive? So if the other person has the only food within 2 days walk? The doctor who won't give you the very last of the medicine that may save your life, on the grounds she's holding out for someone it WILL save?

War is easy, so I'll ignore that for now. What about someone attempting to kill your loved ones? In front of you.

From a religious POV there are plenty of reasons not to murder and not to justify it. From a purely rational one, a scientific one, not so much.

  8. I don't believe in the Christian God. Or, more to the point, I don't care if he exists or not, either way he's not MY God.

I'm Heathen, a Gothi (Norse priest kinda). I believe in an entire pantheon. I don't care if others don't follow the beliefs of myself and those who share similar views, all I ask is this: Just as I don't shove my beliefs down your throat, don't shove them down mine. Fanatical Christian/Muslim or Rabid scientist. Don't care. Leave me alone, I leave you alone. We can debate peacefully, or I can beat you with a 4x2. Your choice :P

  9. Ahhh, joyful conversations set to crawl under peoples skins. People believe what they want to believe. I come from a strict family of agnostics. Man I got flogged daily with the joys of science, theory and how no such things as "gods" could ever exist.

    Funny. I'm a priest now. :)

I understand the Big Bang just fine thanks. How much do YOU know about theology? Clue: It starts with "belief" and "faith". You obviously have both or you wouldn't have so much faith & belief in the Big Bang. Which, of course, you were there to witness.

It makes as much sense that in the beginning there was nothing and from nothing came the word (for the record I'm actually a Norse priest, so this God/Jesus stuff doesn't quite work for me, but what the hey) as it does to believe that the universe was created when the two metaphysical realms of fire and ice met and created it, as it does to believe that initially there was nothing until something that occurred that set off some kind mass explosion of, well, whatever.

Prosecution, either produce eye witnesses or the jury will be forced to take it on faith and belief that someone in this room is right. Please don't tell me about your god called science and I won't tell you about my god called Odin. Thank you. :)

  10. Isshin has shown his Bankai when he fought Kenpachi in Soul Society and Kenpachi doesn't have a Bankai. He doesn't even know what his Sword's name is.

Hmmm...must be a manga thing then, cause I haven't seen his Bankai in the anime, and I can't reference to it anywhere, only his Shikai.

  11. Normally, perverted is supposed to mean "sexually deviant", meaning at least sth like homosexuality.

Ummm ... that's a rather hostile statement don't you think? I have gay friends (Hel, I'm bi-sexual myself) and I don't consider them to be sexually deviant. Quite the reverse in fact, I like a little kink and some of my gay friends think I'M deviant.

Bad Binky! No cookie for you!

  12. but if you think about it, 100 years from now, even stuff like S&M and so off will probably be considered "normal", since it will already have a larger.. "fanbase", its just a matter of what you fancy.

You mean it's not normal now? Fetish balls, corsetry parties, the list goes on. Then again, maybe that's just the world I live in ... I like my world, it has rainbows!

  13. If we got lost in the woods when we were very young and were brought up by wolves or something like that and didnt have anyone trying to make us believe in invisible stuff then we wouldnt know anything about it in the first place!

Kind of makes you wonder how any religion or faith began the first place then huh? Not that there's plenty of evidence to demonstrate that our ancestors originally worshiped fire, lightening, thunder, storms, the power of the sea ... then gave names to the beings they thought must be controlling those forces. :P

  14. I have seen 3 seasons of Bleach but still yet to see Rukias zanpakto.

My favorite is Hitsugaya Toshiros zanpakuto. It's got that pretty icy dragon kinda thing. Looks cool to me.

Think your confusing zanpakto with Bankai there. Rukia's zanpakto is named "Sode no Shirayuki" and is referenced several times as the most beautiful of all the ice types. Toshin's is named "Hyorinmaru", the most powerful of all the ice types iirc.

Personally I'd have to rate either Hisagi's (Kazeshini) or Kyoraku's (Katen Kyokotsu) as mine. The malevolence of the first and the playfulness of the latter :)

  15. Can I cheat?

    Anything by R.A. Salvatore

    Anything by David Gemmel

    Anything by Anne McCaffery

    Anything by Robert A. Hienlien

    "Manhood" by Steve Biddulph

k, stopping now, my books take up an entire wall of my room lol
