Yo @Koby, thoughts about making a must watch anime list? Apologies if it already exists

As you can see we're still here.
Even though plenty of people have moved on for obvious reasons. IkarosBD and I still try to maintain the forum, irc, and discord. We've mostly settled on Discord being the main source of communication with everyone and the forum just kind of operates as a secondary base and a way to draw users to the discord. The latest news postings and fun facts seem to be the active mainstays of the forum for now, but we're hoping to revitalize a more community feel and eventually maybe setup some online gaming events among the community from time to time.

@sniper23 honestly that isn't accurate. Firstly you joined nearly 6 years after downloads were added, so you weren't actually around for what it was like prior.
Kametsu was quite a bit more active BEFORE the downloads. But this could largely be in part to just how much bigger message boards were back then prior to things like social media and reddit.
Back in 2007, we were getting 2-5 thousand new posts per day and every discussion thread was actively posted in. Once downloads were added, it took away from discussions and eventually discussion died out almost completely. In the prime time of the downloads existing, we averaged around 500 to 700 posts per day. A far cry from upwards of 5,000 peak per day wouldn't you say.
Put it this way, the entire download section only amounted to roughly 25-30% of the forums entire post count. As evidenced by what the numbers dropped from (around 650,000) and landed on after those sections were deleted (495,000). So that in itself should speak volumes about how much more activity there once were in discussions in that the download section never even came close to catching up.
Sure, we had more guests and one-time posters visiting because of the downloads, so our viewer count was higher.... but the actual activity of the board was ALWAYS lower since the addition of the downloads and continued to drop.
This was why I felt removing the downloads wouldn't have had the impact it did. So yeah, I was wrong in that regard, and it hurt quite a lot to accept that fact. But I guess it's true that community forums as a whole are dying off entirely to begin with.
Pretty much every discussion forum I've been a member in for years is having issues with participation in discussions dying out. Hell animebytes even has trouble with only 5-10 users actively discussing things on their forum... and yet their tracker itself is mostly thriving.

We lost motivation for a while and just let things idle, but eventually we're work on trying to re-invigorate the place and implement the various ideas discussed in hopes of breathing a breath of fresh air into the community and attempt to refocus a bit more geared towards gaming as a whole, getting back to the roots that the community was founded on roughly 16 years ago.

Everyone jumped ship the moment downloads were taken off the cruise menu, despite a huge portion of the original crew members who signed up did so not for the downloads but for the community aspect. Seems like forums as a whole for community discussion was killed off thanks to social networks and platforms like Discord that are generally better suited for rapid on the fly discussions rather than long-term.

hey,
How u doin buddy!! I just read on internet that kametsu stopped the dl section , well it was a surprise but yup understandable by all means. Anyways as long as kametsu is around I'll keep lurking it . Its one of those old place that shud stay alive .
There is one think I wanted to ask you, a friend of mine asked me , what is the best add company for an anime site? well I have been out of loop for so long now that I have no idea, you got any clue mate?
Anyways
Take care
best of luck to kametsu

I don't know much about ad companies other than I have had bad experiences with most of them that I tried and ultimately decided they were worthless, especially in todays internet world full of adblockers and virus infested ads. It's much better and safer for your visitors to try to remain ad free and let the userbase support the site in their own way rather than trying to force them to view adverts.

I found out I have severe pancreatic cancer, that has already gotten to my liver, and have at best a few months to live. I am sorry I will not be able to help maintain this forum with my tomes again, but
I wanted to say goodbye.I will try to check in from time to time while I am still here, but this is the worst form of cancer it seems and I have the worst variant of it, so time is not on my side.
Take care and be well everyone, ad treat this forum as the precious place it truly is.

Damn, cancer seems to always take the best people. We didn't talk much one on one, mainly because I never saw you in IRC or Discord, but I loved reading your forum posts about your wife and your experiences over certain anime you've picked up for watching. It was a pleasure having you around mate. I hope that at least, they're keeping you medicated well enough that the pain is numbed and that you can enjoy your last months doing with your family. Would love to read up some more of your views on things, but don't worry about the forum. Spend as much time as you can with your family while you can and ensure things are properly handled so that they don't have too much stress handling things when you're gone. Carry on friend.

Why is it whenever a Simuldub is synchronous with Simulcast, it never lasts the full run?...

American shows are filmed and ready in advance prior to the season starting.
Japanese anime on the other hand is done pretty much on the spot with an episode often being completed within the same week it's scheduled to air. As such anime studios often fail to meet deadlines on having episodes ready.
When this happens, they air a quickly thrown together "recap" episode for the week allowing them an extra week to work on things and get back on ahead of schedule.
Much in the same way, these studios don't always have the material ready to hand over to the dubbing studios in enough time for same-day Simuldub every week, hence the delays.

Delays in the Japanese studios handing over the required materials for the dub studios to do their thing. Once they get it, they need to alter the script so that scenes can be dubbed within the same length of mouth flaps given, etc.. which means some creative freedom here and there, etc.. So when they're late getting what they need, it's hard to stay on schedule.
