Kyukitsune7
I been reading a lot of books and when movies come out sometimes I wonder which is better cause even the Harry Potter book with the special effects and actor did a great job, while others not so much. Which do you mostly perfer
lemmingllama
Assuming that we are talking about specifically about whether book or movie versions of the same series, the books are almost always better. Although there are certain exceptions such as Lord of the Rings, in general books just have that much more detail and also are awesome due to my imagination. professa X
Yup gotta concur. I always try to read the books. whether its a book adapted from A film or the other way around. Plus letting your imagination go wild while reading can be amazing with our with out controlled substances!
dimple69182
Depends on the book. New Moon was way better then the book cause it took so much less time to watch then to read, but movies like Eragon sucked compared to the books. Tanis
The Jaws book was shit, it was SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT, but the movie was pretty good.
lemmingllama
The Jaws book was shit, it was SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT, but the movie was pretty good. Of course the movie is better when the source material sucks. Although I haven't read the jaws book so I cant say for sure.

Tsukumo Yuma
I say the books are better, even with harry potter, me and other fans were disapointed with how much they changed and left out of the movie, that was in the books. goofydude
I enjoy the movies. And I feel it is about even in most cases, as some things in the book can't be transferred over because of difficulty or time constraints, however when you get to see what's going on, especially in action or fight scenes, that is where movies really shine for me. (or things like descriptions of strange creatures, I usually don't get however when someone cgs it into a movie...). I like to also watch the movie then read the book. (if the story is good enough) Because then it becomes much easier to envision what they are talking about and I pick up some new info (such as a character's feelings or inner thoughts, or even scenes that didn't get to the movie) to enhance the story further. That said the only Harry Potter movie that was a disappointment to the book I'd have to say was 1/2 Blood Prince.
ElementalCards
It depends. Cuaron's A little princess is different from the book and I read negative comments about Matthews' portrayal of Sara Crewe as bratty. The secret garden 93 is presented as more magical and the responses were positive. Just pointing out examples. gokaired
In my experience, books are always better than movies, especially if the writers/directors of movies change things up from the books to make the movies shorter, etc.
Cman
Hmmm I think both are the same but I like watching movies more than reading a books.
KarmaChameleon
I'm with most people here. I think in general books are better (even amazing movies based off books). Read the princess bride and you'll see what I'm talking about or a Civil Action and you'll figure out why they even made it into a movie. I will say that novelizations of original movies are usually only "eh" for me though.
char_clone
for me they both have good things that they bring to the table
HeavenlyClassic
books are crap, require too much attention.you cant do anything else whilst reading. movies are also crap, but atleast you can do other things while one is playing in the background. out of the two,i find books to come off as....awkward.since im just like uhh...im just reading words sum dude put on a page >.>kinda like reading fan fiction except its glorified. atleast with movies u get to see things u otherwise likely wouldnt, with special effects getting pretty good nowadays/ Edited March 20, 2014 by HeavenlyClassic
dcv1979
sometimes the movie is better than the book versionbut i usually read the book first then buy the Bluray
Tsukumo Yuma
Movies now adays when they adapt a story from a book, they foucous to much on special effects and flash, and remove some stuff that was in the book, which would be interesting to see in movie form. But I like to read more than I do watch stuff, and some people who go see movies would not bother with reading the book. There are a lot of people like that were I live. Tsukumo Yuma
It is a diferent story if you were made to read the book, that means the story never interested you if you were made to, also isn't that a book they make you read in school?
