I like the third idea the most. Although my knowledge of torrenting is fairly average(I don't know how to setup a private tracker and honestly don't know what a seedbox is(I assume it is a computer used specifically for torrenting though)). I do know that the quality of the seeds' internet makes the download better, for example a seeder(a person uploading basically) that has internet that uploads at 200kb/s would only allow a peer(downloader) to download at around 200kb/s depending on the seeders internet usage besides torrenting. I can personally seed at around 500kb/s-700kb/s depending on certain criteria.

Glad Kametsu is up and running again. Have you given any thought into changing, the website extension from .com to something else? Another, website I use changed theirs last year. Do you think it may be a good idea? Considering the FBI has said if a website ends in .com or .net that gives them jurisdiction.

Java actually mentioned this to me. I don't know how helpful it will actually be, but could be something to consider.

I unfortunately know little in the way of what to do as far reviving the download section (Java was telling me about the pros and cons of various options, but I couldn't repeat them even if I tried). Hopefully something gets figured out, but, and take my opinion with a grain of salt since I don't care for anime, it wouldn't hurt me too much if they never came back. It could cut down some of the spam and useless posts floating around, at least.

No torrents please. Torrents are slow and you sometimes get viruses from them.

Please don't say shit you don't even comprehend. No offense but you're doing nothing more than talking out of your ass and making crap up. The only way you get a virus would be if you downloaded a bad torrent to begin with, which would also happen with any filehost. Also saying they're slow is also completely stupid. Unlike file-hosts that limit download speed for free users--- Torrent speeds are completely relevant to whatever the seeders are capable of uploading. If you have 5 people seeding at 200 kbps, then you'd be getting a 1 mbps download speed if you're the only one they all are seeding to for example.

Yeah, I really doubt Kametsu is just going to link to a bunch of torrents riddled with viruses and spyware. Although it would amuse me greatly because I am a terrible person like that, the forum unfortunately does not exist solely to entertain me. I personally have never had issues with torrents, but I do it rarely and only for particularly large and popular files because I sure do love pretty things in my Sims games.

I would imagine a user friendly guide would be put into place, regardless of what is decided. Doesn't make sense not to. Guides are so nice.

Maybe we just need to go old school and start swapping DVDs in the hallway or something. Or carrier pigeons.

Its good to see the site back.

sucks that Megas gone

As for what to do dont do #1 many people like the section for its diverse collection

I dont know much about #2. #3, I know a lot of people who dont like torrents for whatever reason and on #4 i would give file hosting sites a chance. If you go the file-hosting way i could upload some popular shows(One Piece, Naruto, Air Gear etc.) But whatever way you go is the way you go and were just happy the sites back up

Welcome Back Kametsu,

First I would start off with the file hosting sites as starters. One to test the waters you would say and two to get those files shared once again. Def going to be a hit or miss with file sharing sites att, but enough to get the blood pumping. Either the XDCC Bot (IRC) or Private Torrent Tracker would work, but I probably go toward the torrent tracker myself. But the XDCC Bot does give alot of customization and capabilities, but also alot of problems. I will spare the technical blab that comes with this. But I would try out any possibility before killing off downloads and I will be glad to help out as much as possible. This will take alot of work and figuring out the best solution, but you never know we could use all three.

i'm happy to see we're back, but with a majority of our download section dead there are a lot of people who will disappear from Kametsu. if i had better internet and monies i would happily reupload what anime i have, but there is still the issue of finding an appropriate host.

Perhaps closing the download section temporarily until we can see whats going on with host sites before we make the decision to scrap it or torrent.

I can do nothing else but agree here. With everything that is going on, I think the best idea is to wait for maybe 2-3 weeks or so, just to see how things pan up. If most of the links are dead in the download section now, let's remove them, and leave the ones that are still active for the time we may have to wait. Then, when the time comes, it's up to Koby to decide what happens from there.

I personally don't mind what happens wither way; it'll give all of us a chance to see which members were really dedicated to this forum after all.

all i can say is torrents are risky and slow but still good, and just like most who love this site and your downloads i would donate towards you getting a bot IRC (whatever that is =P)

Did you even read my post? Your post is literally only seperated by mine with a single post.. xD On a side note I am happy Kametsu is finally back up after the lazy, "tech" guy still didn't do his job(Koby had to do it in the end which in my opinion the, "tech" guy should have let koby do it to begin with since the, "TECH GUY" was such a lazy bum! xD).

Koby just in case you don't see my post in the group, "I think the torrent idea would work if there were a bunch of people that would torrent(seed). I am one person that could do so but honestly Koby should either make a list of people that are interested in helping by means of seeding or make a new title, "Torrenter" or "Seeder" for example and assign the title to the people that want to spred their seed. -giggity- xD" I think if ten or more people could be gathered it would be an okay, "start" but we would definitely require at least double that when we start getting more peers. What we could do is make a daily list of how many peers on average downloaded and of which anime they downloaded for a week or two after the torrenting starts just to passively monitor the torrenting usage.
