Hunter x Hunter TV Anime Series Confirmed for This Fall

Yes, but if ANN announces it, then it backs up the original source, and that is all that matters to me.

It doesn't back anything up, lol. I've seen countless times where ANN has simply stolen news only to be discovered the news they stole was a troll and they either end up removing it or placing an edit saying something along the lines of 'update nvm'. ANN doesn't add any reliability to anything and only going by what they say is kind of idiotic. I've even contacted them a couple times to correct them or give them news tips. After all they are nothing more than an Anime site made by fans, only on a bigger scale, and I believe they are now owned by some company so they pay some of the workers, but otherwise they still aren't a creditable source and almost every single one of their news posts has external source links as to where the news actually came from. Aside from the rare occasions where they occasionally get contacted directly for news, usually only by American Anime companies.

Anyways I had this news before ANN because I saw one of the promotional videos. We'll get more details in the Shonen Jump about the new series.

I've contacted Viz about Hunter x Hunter and they said they will not license the OVA's nor this new series unless something changes and the current DVD sets start being bought because so far sales have been terrible.

2011 Hunter x Hunter Anime to Retell Story From Start

The upcoming television anime adaptation of the Hunter X Hunter manga will have a new staff and cast compared to the 1999-2001 television anime, and it will retell the story from the manga from the beginning. The “definitive” new anime will premiere on NTV on October 2 and run every Sunday at 10:55 a.m. NTV opened a web page for the new anime.

Hiroshi Koujina (Rainbow – Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin, Neuro – Supernatural Detective) will direct the anime at MADHOUSE (Death Note, NANA), and Jun Maekawa (Dragon Ball Z, Fresh Precure!) is in charge of the scripts. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (“Something Yoshimatsu” of Future GPX Cyber Formula, Slayers) is designing the characters, while Toshio Nakatani is producing. The cast is slated to be announced later.

The manga has sold 52 million copies, and Yoshihiro Togashi will resume the manga in the combined 35/36th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine next Monday. The 29th compiled book volume (pictured right) of the manga is shipping on Thursday.

Damn, this ruins the chance of this ever getting dubbed, I doubt Viz Media would license the remake.

Hopefully FUNimation will be interested in licensing it.....

Dude, this is pretty awesome news! Hopefully it gets a nice budget, and little to no filler episodes unless they can pull them off.
