OK here is my problem,

95% of the time, when I download a video, and try to play it using vlc my computer goes black, and after a minute will go back on and my pc will give me an error. (Cant remember what it said). And the screen will be zoomed in. and then audio will start playing. And if I go to YouTube it won't play the video just audio. my pc is running on windows xp. I also bought the pc used and when I boot it up, windows says it isn't genuine. The problem started around when I downloaded vlc in late 2014. But it was on rare occasions. Now it happens almost every time I download I new video. One last thing, audio plays every time.

What is the file type? Or any file does that? And what are the resolution of those videos? What is your screen resolution?

It will do it on any file type.

I don't know about the resolution of the videos, as it varies on the videos as well. I also don't know about my screen size. I do know I am using my 36in dinex flat screen LCD TV to watch vids on my pc.

So I'm thinking maybe it's your video card settings. When you switch to the TV screen do u use that one exclusively (no double screen) also check to see if vlc is not auto fitting video to screen. Cuz if you're video is 1080p and you screen is 720 then it will only show 720p from the center of the video. If it is trying to autofit then its failing and I would blame video card. What video card/gpu are u using that connects to the screen

I don't use 2 screens. I do use the TV to play video games as well. I'm sorry if this sound silly but I don't know what my video card or GPU I'm using.

Try what koby said (I assumed u already uninstalled and reinstalled )

I didn't see kobys post, until just now. I'll delete it when I get home on Saturday. And I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for the help, and im sorry if said some useless info. I'm not very PC savy. Edited by Toonamivhs
