StaticX Posted October 18, 2014 Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 ok, so I am In the market for a New Phone (Probably the Galaxy Note 3 or 4) and I was wondering if it would handle high 10-bit videos? (Both 1080p & 720p) I know this question has been asked a million times at other places, and I've googled if High 10-Bit videos work on certain phones, but The threads have been outdated and New and Faster tech has come along during that time. I just want to know if anyone has had any experience with newer devices. If so, What would I need to look out for encode-wise? e.g. bitrate, number of Reference Frames, ect... I just don't want to spend a fortune on a Note 3 or 4, then Find out it still lags with High 10-Bit videos, otherwise if it does, I'll just stick with what I've got. Thanks in Advance! Ok then, Thanks for the Info John I use MX Player to Play MKV files, so there shouldn't be a problem if the Note 3 Plays them easily. Harry-Potter Posted October 20, 2014 Report Share Posted October 20, 2014 Install VLC media player on your android device (Checked with even Galaxy S Duos 2) It should normally play Hi10 Bit videos, since you have a good processor + RAM! If you see any lagging issues, go to the settings and change the decoding method to YUV from RGB! This will certainly down a bit of the visual quality! (pretty much un noticeable) But you can run the videos without any lags!
